Walt Disney World Resort guests, along with visitors at other Central Florida theme parks, have been urged to avoid outdoor park areas due to a severe weather warning. This government-issued warning has sent waves of concern across the entire region as temperatures soar and conditions worsen.

On Wednesday, July 30, 2025, the National Weather Service in Melbourne issued an Extreme Heat Advisory for much of Florida, including the Walt Disney World Resort area. With temperatures ranging from 93 to 98°F and the heat index making it feel as hot as 112°F, the situation has become dangerous, especially for those spending long hours outdoors. This advisory is effective from noon to 7:00 p.m. EST, urging people to stay inside and avoid heat-related illnesses.

An Extreme Heat Warning was also issued on Tuesday, July 29. Temperatures are expected to be milder on Wednesday, but conditions are still dangerous for anyone outdoors, especially on that hot theme park pavement.
Walt Disney World Resort guests do not need to lock themselves in their hotel rooms, but it is crucial to follow the precautions in place. Guests are encouraged to stay hydrated, apply sunscreen, and wear lightweight, light-colored clothing to mitigate the effects of the scorching heat. Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles, as temperatures can quickly become fatal.

If you’re spending time at the Disney parks, it’s best to limit your time outside during the day and avoid direct sunlight. Attractions like Festival of the Lion King and Avatar Flight of Passage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Frozen Ever After at EPCOT, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Mickey’s PhilharMagic and Space Mountain at Magic Kingdom Park offer air-conditioned respite from the heat.
If you’re arriving at a Disney Resort hotel on Wednesday, take advantage of free admission to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Parks on the day of check-in. While guests should still avoid the sun during the hottest afternoon hours, the water parks provide a great opportunity to cool off in the morning or evening.

Walt Disney World Resort also provides multiple resources to help guests manage the extreme conditions. Water bottle refill stations and drinking fountains are scattered near bathrooms throughout the Disney parks, and complimentary ice water is available at every Quick Service restaurant. Additionally, most merchandise locations sell sun protection. Always drink water before feeling thirsty and reapply sunscreen before your skin starts to burn.
As the temperature rises, so do the risks of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Symptoms to watch for include nausea, vomiting, slurred speech, confusion, racing heart rate, flushed skin, rapid breathing, chills despite a high body temperature, and sudden lack of sweating. If you notice any of these symptoms, seek help immediately. First Aid stations are available throughout Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and Disney Springs.
