If there’s one thing Disney knows how to do, it’s build suspense. For months, Adventureland has been quietly transforming. Construction walls went up around the former Pirates League, then came down just enough to tease glimpses of what was happening inside. Rumors swirled, but Disney kept its treasure chest closed.

While the park has made tweaks to Pirates of the Caribbean over the years, full expansions are a much rarer prize. That’s why what’s about to happen is such a big deal—not just for fans of the ride, but for the future of themed experiences at Magic Kingdom.
As of August 29, Disney will officially expand the Pirates of the Caribbean universe with the opening of The Beak and Barrel, a fully immersive pirate tavern that blends food, drink, and storytelling into one swashbuckling experience.
An Immersive Pirate Escape
The Beak and Barrel is designed to feel like a hidden haunt for adventurers and rogues. Guests will step into a richly themed environment, complete with a 45-minute time limit to keep the flow moving—similar to Oga’s Cantina at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Inside, there will be sea shanties, character interactions, and subtle nods to both the original ride and the film series.

It’s not just a place to eat—it’s a continuation of the attraction’s story. That means when you step off the ride, you can keep living in that world a little longer before heading to your next stop in the park.
A Menu as Adventurous as the Theme
Disney’s culinary team has leaned into creativity here. Highlights for all ages include the Treasure Trove drink (ube, lemon, coconut, and sweet treats) and the Cursed Treasure cookies-and-cream concoction. Adults can choose from drinks like the Salty Seas mARRRgarita, Siren’s Whisper rum cocktail, or Barrels Ablaze bourbon mix.
The Kraken’s Catch octopus salad and Cook’s Corn Griddle Cakes headline the food offerings, while the Island Provisions platter gives groups something to share. Beer and wine selections round out the menu, including exclusive draft brews you can’t get anywhere else in the park.
Why Fans Are Calling It a Game-Changer
The Beak and Barrel is more than a tavern—it’s an expansion of Pirates of the Caribbean in the truest sense. Much like how Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge uses Oga’s Cantina to extend its storytelling, this addition deepens the ride’s world and offers new ways to interact with it.

For a park that’s been light on fully themed dining spaces, it’s a bold move. And if it’s successful, it could open the door for more immersive concepts across Magic Kingdom.
Reservations open August 14, and given the buzz already building, securing a spot might feel like hunting for buried treasure. But for fans who have been waiting for Disney to go big with Pirates of the Caribbean again, this is one expansion worth chasing.

Woohoo, another restaurant. Disney continues to erode
