Walt Disney World Resort guests visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios are encountering some unexpected changes as construction walls have appeared near Savi’s Workshop, blocking off a popular courtyard area. This update comes after construction work began along the border of Batuu and Toy Story Land earlier this summer.
On August 31, 2025, WDWNT reported that a large guest area near the lightsaber-building experience in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has now been closed off by construction barriers. The affected area is a courtyard typically lined with umbrellas and planters, providing shade for guests waiting to check into Savi’s Workshop.

Almost the entire courtyard is now surrounded by traditional wooden construction walls and tightly pulled tarps. The tan and beige color of the barriers helps them blend in as seamlessly as possible with the surrounding Star Wars-themed environment. However, the walls wrap around nearly the entire area, leaving guests unable to see what is going on behind them.
While Savi’s Workshop remains open, the umbrellas in the courtyard have been removed or relocated to the smaller portion of the area not yet covered by the construction walls. This has made the popular waiting area noticeably more crowded, but Disney Park guests can still access the lightsaber-building experience with reservations. (Walk-up availability for Savi’s Workshop is extremely limited.)
The appearance of these new construction walls follows the installation of similar barriers in the walkway between Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge earlier this summer. On the Toy Story Land side, the walls are painted with vibrant rainbow colors that match the land’s toy-themed aesthetic, while the Batuu side has beige walls designed to blend into the intergalactic atmosphere. Construction permits suggest that a new food kiosk may be part of the plans on the Toy Story Land side.
As of now, Walt Disney World Resort has not provided further information on the reason behind the construction walls near Savi’s Workshop or when guests can expect the area to return to normal. However, reservations for Savi’s Workshop are still being accepted, with limited walk-up availability.
