One of the great perks of visiting Walt Disney World is how easy it is to get around. Families can hop on a Monorail, cruise across Bay Lake by boat, or glide above the parks on the Skyliner. Add in a fleet of buses and you’ve got a system that makes driving unnecessary. But there’s one service many guests rely on for extra comfort—and now it comes with a new restriction that’s catching late-night travelers off guard.

A Favorite Service with a Twist
Minnie Vans, the stylish SUVs decorated in polka dots, have been a hit since Disney launched them in 2017. They disappeared briefly in 2020 before making a return in 2022, and ever since, guests have praised them for being a convenient, private way to get around. But they’ve also been unpredictable when it comes to hours. Disney’s only guidance was that “times may vary,” leaving guests to check the Lyft app for availability.

Recently, though, guests at EPCOT noticed something different: an official sign declaring that Minnie Vans stop running at 1:00 a.m. each night. Along with the time, Disney included a phone number for questions and even an apology for the change.
The Late-Night Dilemma
On the surface, a 1:00 a.m. cut-off may not seem like a big deal. After all, many families with young kids leave long before then. But it’s a problem for anyone attending special events like EPCOT After Hours, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, or Jollywood Nights, which can run right up until 1:00 a.m. Guests leaving at closing time may discover that Minnie Vans have already gone offline, leaving them to look for alternatives.

Why Now?
Disney hasn’t explained the reason behind the move. It could be a staffing decision, an effort to cut costs during lower demand hours, or a test run for a resort-wide policy. Whatever the case, it represents a shift in how the service operates, one that removes some of the flexibility Minnie Vans were known for.
What Options Remain
Thankfully, Disney’s complimentary buses continue running after late-night events wrap up, and rideshare apps like Uber are always available. Still, for those who enjoyed the direct service and Disney-branded experience of Minnie Vans, the change feels like a downgrade.

Moving Forward
The new rule may only apply to EPCOT for now, but if it expands across the property, many late-night guests will need to rethink how they end their evenings. The safest approach is to plan ahead, check the app often, and prepare for the possibility that Minnie Vans may not be available after the clock strikes one.
