Magic Kingdom Resort Area Closing Next Month, Disney World Says

Walt Disney World Resort has confirmed that Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds will undergo significant renovations beginning in early October. The planned changes will affect the lobby area of the Disney Resort, which will be temporarily closed for the duration of the refurbishment. This project is expected to run through early November 2025.

A notice on the resort’s booking page, posted last week, outlined the details of the closure and what guests can expect during their stay. Construction crews will be working in and around the lobby area, and guests should be prepared for maintenance-related noise and visible work in the vicinity. The check-in area will be temporarily relocated to a modified space nearby. Guests are advised to follow posted signage and reach out to a Disney cast member if they need assistance. The official notice reads:

“From early October through early November, 2025, the lobby at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort will undergo renovations. Guests may hear or see maintenance in the area until work is complete, and the check-in area may be moved to a modified location nearby. Upon arrival, please follow posted signage and reach out to a Cast Member if assistance is needed.”

Other amenities of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds will remain unaffected, including the pools, the beloved Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, and Chip’ n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long. Transportation options, such as watercraft and bus services, will continue to operate, providing complimentary trips to Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and Disney Springs.

This lobby refurbishment at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campgrounds is part of an ongoing effort to update and modernize various Central Florida Disney Resort hotels. Renovations are wrapping up in the lobby at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and the revamped food court and gift shop are now open. At Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Imagineers are putting the finishing touches on a new lobby bar and Victorian-inspired custom furnishings.

Last year, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort debuted its new Disney Vacation Club (DVC) cabins, providing a more modern experience with updated accommodations. While the new cabins offer a luxurious version of the resort’s rustic charm, they come at a steep price, making them one of the priciest lodging options at Walt Disney World Resort.

It’s unclear whether the new lobby will reflect the modern aesthetic of the DVC cabins or stick to the traditional rustic theme that Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is known for.
