Part of DINOSAUR Just Went Extinct at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Ahead of its eventual closure in early 2026, DINOSAUR has already received a makeover, with a new on-ride photo for Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park guests.

At D23 Expo 2024, Walt Disney Imagineering unveiled plans to transform DINOSAUR into an Indiana Jones-themed ride as part of an upcoming Tropical Americas-inspired land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The new area, Pueblo Esperanza, will replace DinoLand U.S.A. In addition to the reimagined DINOSAUR ride, the land will include two Encanto (2021) attractions.

Much of the original Disney Park land, including The Boneyard, Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama, and TriceraTop Spin, has already closed. Aerial images show the flattened land surrounded by construction equipment. DINOSAUR, Restaurantosaurus, and Trilo-Bites are the only remaining parts of DinoLand U.S.A.

On September 29, 2025, Walt Disney World Resort introduced a new on-ride photo frame for the final months of DINOSAUR’s operations. This updated frame, shared by @DrewDisneyDude on X (formerly Twitter), is now dated for 2025, complete with a striking image of the red Carnotaurus and the meteor that riders must escape from.

NEW: DINOSAUR’s attraction photo has been updated as of today at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The final day to ride the attraction is February 1, 2026.

The new photo frame also features the classic DINOSAUR ride logo, the “It’s Fast! It’s A Blast! It’s In The Past!” slogan, and some fan-favorite quotes, such as “You Made It!” and “Nice Work!”

Guests can purchase ride photos through the My Disney Experience app, Walt Disney World Resort’s website, or at Disney PhotoPass locations throughout the parks. As with other rides, the DINOSAUR photos automatically link to most guests’ Disney accounts via MagicBand, smartwatch, or mobile device. Assistance from Disney PhotoPass help desks is available for missing images.

The final chance to experience the current DINOSAUR attraction is February 1, 2026. On February 2, 2026, the attraction will go extinct, alongside the rest of DinoLand U.S.A. Pueblo Esperanza will open at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park sometime in 2027.
