Thousands of Flights to Disney May Be Cancelled Amid Planned Strike

Disneyland Paris visitors may need to rethink their travel plans for early October as the main French air traffic control union, the SNCTA, has announced a multi-day strike. The union confirmed the strike will run “from the start of duty on the morning of 7 October until the end of night duty on the morning of the 10 October,” raising concerns for guests arriving at or departing from Paris during the period.

The Strike’s Scope

The strike is expected to affect thousands of travelers, with many flights to and from Paris potentially cancelled and countless others likely to experience delays. A similar disruption occurred during a previous major air traffic control strike in July 2025, when tens of thousands of passengers across Europe were impacted, forcing many to scramble for alternative itineraries.

The SNCTA has highlighted long-standing issues with the governance and management of France’s air traffic control operations. In a statement, the union said: “For several years, the governance of air traffic control has been characterised by mistrust, punitive practices, and brutal managerial methods.” The announcement underscores ongoing tensions between controllers and management, with staff pushing for improved working conditions and greater oversight.

What This Means for Disneyland Paris Visitors

Guests planning trips to Disneyland Paris during the strike window should prepare for sudden changes to flight schedules, last-minute cancellations, and potentially chaotic travel conditions. Airlines are expected to notify affected passengers, but the magnitude of the strike means that many resort-goers may need to reschedule or explore alternate transport options, including trains or nearby airports.

Experts urge visitors to monitor airline communications closely, remain flexible with itineraries, and consider travel insurance policies that cover strike-related disruptions. Travelers arriving at Paris airports should allow extra time for check-in and security lines, as congestion is likely to increase during the strike period.

The SNCTA strike serves as a reminder of how labor disputes in key transportation sectors can reverberate through tourism-heavy destinations like Disneyland Paris. For international visitors, the disruption highlights the fragility of travel plans and the importance of planning for contingencies when visiting one of Europe’s most popular theme park destinations.
