Big Changes Coming to EPCOT’s Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure: What Does This Mean for You?

EPCOT visitors will soon experience a revamped version of one of the park’s most beloved attractions, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. Set to close for a short but significant refurbishment from November 10 to November 13, 2025, the ride will undergo an exciting visual update, as well as several enhancements to its queue and ride experience. The main change guests can look forward to is the shift from the ride’s current 3D visuals to a cleaner, more streamlined 2D projection style, designed to improve the overall viewing experience.

The Major Visual Update: Moving to 2D

Disney fans are no strangers to the stunning visuals of Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, which immerses guests in the vibrant world of the hit animated film “Ratatouille.” However, the upcoming refurbishment promises a major shift in the attraction's presentation. According to Disney, the ride's current 3D projections will be replaced by 2D digital visuals, which aim to provide “clearer imagery” and “more crisp” scenes that will enhance the overall ride experience.

The 2D projections will not only update the look of the entire ride but will also provide an opportunity to enhance the storytelling that is such a key element of the attraction. From the winding journey through Gusteau’s restaurant to the final exhilarating chase scene, guests can expect a smoother and more visually refined experience when the ride reopens.

While the ride’s original 3D visuals were groundbreaking when first introduced, Disney has recognized the potential to refine the visuals for an even better guest experience. The shift to 2D projections is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the ride meets modern entertainment standards. Fans of the attraction have expressed excitement at the prospect of these new updates, which promise a visually stunning journey through Remy’s world while preserving the charm that has made the ride so popular.

Queue and Environment Enhancements

Along with the visual updates, Disney is making enhancements to the ride's queue and environment, ensuring that the entire experience remains fresh and immersive. These updates include new props and lighting additions that are sure to make the queue more engaging for guests while they wait to board the ride. The queue is an important part of any attraction, and Disney plans to enhance it with new elements inspired by the world of “Ratatouille.

While the exact details of the new props and lighting are still under wraps, fans are already speculating that the changes will bring even more iconic elements from the film into the experience. Whether it’s more nods to Remy’s culinary adventures or additional lighting that enhances the atmosphere of the queue, these updates are sure to make the wait for the ride even more enjoyable.

Guests can expect a more vibrant and visually stunning wait; the enhancements would help build excitement before guests even board their rat-sized ride vehicles. The additional lighting will also complement the newly revamped visual effects, creating a more cohesive and immersive experience.

What Does This Mean for the Ride Experience?

For those planning to experience Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure during the scheduled refurbishment period, it’s important to note that the attraction will be temporarily closed from November 10 to November 13, 2025. While some visitors may feel disappointed by this brief closure, the updates promised during this period are expected to elevate the attraction, ensuring that the wait is well worth it.

Guests who are visiting EPCOT during this time will still have plenty of other attractions to enjoy. From Mission: SPACE and Test Track to the Frozen Ever After boat ride and the World Showcase pavilions, EPCOT offers a wide variety of experiences that can fill the gap while Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure is closed for the refurbishment.

Once the attraction reopens after November 13, the combination of 2D visuals and queue enhancements will bring fresh energy to this already beloved ride. Fans can expect an even more magical and immersive adventure, with the changes enhancing the storytelling while staying true to the beloved charm of “Ratatouille.”

  1. While I’m sure the visuals will be more crisp and clear as 2D vs 3D. The biggest difference between the two approaches is the effect of things moving toward or away from the viewer in 3D giving kind of the “jump scare” result. Whereas they are simply flat in 2D losing that part of the immersive element. Hopefully the improved screen quality will outweigh the loss of the immersive, part of the action effect.
