Disney Just Said Goodbye to a 30-Year Classic

Change has officially arrived at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The long-standing marquee for Muppet*Vision 3D has been taken down, signaling the beginning of a full transformation of the area. For many, this isn’t just a construction update—it’s a sign that one of the last untouched corners of the park is about to look very different.

Goodbye to a Familiar Landmark

For weeks, there had been signs of change. First, the entrance signage was removed. Then the black tarp went up, hiding the iconic Muppet*Vision 3D marquee from view. Now, the façade is completely bare, with nothing but brick walls where those bright letters once hung.

The removal might seem like a small thing in the grand scheme of Disney’s constant updates, but to fans who have walked through those doors for decades, it feels personal. Muppet*Vision 3D wasn’t just a 3D show—it was a comfortable ritual, a family favorite, and one of the park’s most nostalgic experiences.

A New Era: Monstropolis

What comes next is a full reimagining of the land. Disney has confirmed that the space will become Monstropolis, themed entirely around Monsters, Inc. A suspended coaster inspired by the door chase sequence is planned, along with themed dining, shopping, and a new show experience inside the theater. This marks one of the most ambitious expansions Hollywood Studios has seen in years.

While some fans are understandably sad, others are excited about what this means for the park’s future. Pixar attractions have consistently been crowd-pleasers, and a fully themed Monstropolis land has the potential to be a major draw for families.

Muppets Find a New Home

This doesn’t mean the Muppets are being completely erased. Rock ‘n' Roller Coaster, which has long been associated with Aerosmith, will be reimagined into a Muppet-themed ride. Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the Electric Mayhem band will headline the attraction, giving the characters a fresh presence in the park. The accompanying gift shop will also be transformed into a Muppets merchandise hub—something fans have wanted for years.

A Park That’s Always Evolving

The truth is, Disney parks have always been in motion. Attractions come and go, lands change themes, and nostalgia often has to make room for new generations. The removal of the Muppet*Vision 3D marquee is bittersweet, but it’s also part of the natural cycle of park evolution.

While Monstropolis will bring something new and exciting, there’s no denying that this change closes the book on one of the park’s most heartfelt experiences. Muppet*Vision 3D leaves behind a legacy of laughter, and while it may not greet guests at the entrance anymore, its spirit will live on in a new way.

For longtime fans, it’s a tough goodbye. But for future guests, a new world of Monsters is waiting to be explored. And if there’s anything Disney does best, it’s building something that inspires the next wave of memories.
