Disney Confirms Major Change for Mickey Mouse in 2026

Nearly 100 years after his debut, Mickey Mouse is still changing with the tides. From Steamboat Willie’s mischievous sailor to the platinum-trimmed hero of Disney’s centennial, every new era has brought a new look. Now, as Tokyo DisneySea prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary, the world’s most famous mouse is trading red for blue.

Starting April 15, 2026, Mickey and his friends will debut entirely new costumes as part of the “Tokyo DisneySea 25th Sparkling Jubilee.” The designs will center around “Jubilee Blue,” a hue inspired by the sea and unified across the park’s beloved cast of characters.

The costumes for Tokyo DisneySea's anniversary event “Tokyo DisneySea 25th ‘Sparkling Jubilee'”, which will be held starting April 15, 2026, have been revealed for the first time✨

The costumes of Disney's friends are unified in a special color “Jubilee Blue” inspired by the various charms of the sea in the park🌟

Let's celebrate a special year together at Tokyo DisneySea wrapped in Jubilee Blue🎶

The Jewel of Disney's Global Theme Park Lineup

When Tokyo DisneySea opened in 2001, it set a new bar for themed entertainment. Built around a central lagoon, the park weaves seven distinct “ports of call” into a seamless narrative — from the roaring volcano of Mysterious Island to the storybook charm of Mermaid Lagoon and the art deco sophistication of American Waterfront.

Visitors can explore Jules Verne’s subterranean world in Journey to the Center of the Earth, fly through the skies on Soaring: Fantastic Flight (if they can brave the lengthy queues, at least), or set sail past lost temples and tropical ruins in the Lost River Delta.

It’s a park that arguably prizes atmosphere over adrenaline, with its rich, detailed features earning it a reputation as Disney's most immersive – and most impressive – theme park. (Even if it's as famous for its long crowds and lines as it is for its actual attractions.)

How Else Is Tokyo Disney Celebrating Its Anniversary?

The Sparkling Jubilee will celebrate that legacy with new entertainment and water-based spectacles. Mickey and his friends will glide across Mediterranean Harbor aboard a custom-decorated barge, greeting fans dressed in their new nautical attire. Each design, touched with gold and oceanic details, honors the park’s maritime heritage while symbolizing its forward momentum.

At Waterfront Park, Dance the Globe! will invite audiences to celebrate stories from around the world. The show will feature characters like Rapunzel, Hiro, and Mirabel — the latter making her first-ever appearance at Tokyo DisneySea — uniting generations of Disney storytelling under one banner.

As day turns to night, projections will illuminate the grand facade of Tokyo DisneySea Hotel MiraCosta – which has an upcoming renovation in the works – set to an original theme song written for the occasion. The display will transform the harbor into a glowing tapestry of light, color, and motion, visible from nearly every corner of the park.

The festivities will also spill into dining and merchandise. Restaurants across the resort will serve limited-edition menus, and themed food wagons will offer decorative snacks inspired by the event’s ocean-blue palette. For many fans, it’s another example of how Tokyo DisneySea infuses design into even the smallest details — a hallmark of its enduring appeal.

The 25th anniversary follows a wave of expansion across the resort, including the opening of Fantasy Springs in 2024.

This new land, themed to Peter Pan, Frozen, and Tangled, added four major attractions and a luxury hotel, cementing the park’s reputation for large-scale storytelling.
