Guest’s Theft Attempt Goes Awry at Disney World, Police Summoned

Disney World’s shifting prices have become an increasingly visible point of tension for returning guests – and it seems like some have decided these prices aren't worth paying altogether.

Beginning in October 2026, the average price of a single-day Disney World ticket will rise by about $5 across most tiers. Annual passes will see increases between $20 and $80, depending on the pass type. Food and merchandise have also moved upward in price. T-shirts that once sold for $29.99 now commonly sit at $32.99. Iconic Mickey ear headbands recently climbed from $34.99 to $36.99.

For some visitors, these adjustments reflect the needs of a growing resort introducing new attractions. For others, they represent a shift in how the Disney experience is framed and who it is meant for. A recent incident at one of Disney’s hotels has brought those discussions into sharper relief.

Beach Club Resort Arrest

According to a police alert, a retail theft was reported at Disney’s Beach Club Resort on November 2, 2025, at 8:02 p.m. A security manager witnessed a guest, identified as Katie Green, leaving the Beach Club Marketplace with a pair of Mickey ears that had not been paid for. The ears were allegedly placed in the basket of her electric scooter and later moved into a shopping bag outside the store.

Green denied the accusation. She told officers she informed the cashier she wanted to purchase the ears while buying a sweater, and suggested the cashier had scanned the wrong item. However, when law enforcement reviewed her receipts, the sweater appeared — but no Mickey ears were listed on any of them.

The cashier’s account contradicted Green’s explanation. According to the report, Green asked for the price of the ears, appeared to change her mind, and purchased only the sweater. The cast member believed the guest returned the ears to the display. The item in question was priced at $36.99.

Green was arrested for retail petit theft. She and her husband were trespassed from all Disney-owned properties.

Broader Pattern of Reported Incidents

This incident follows additional theft-related reports across Walt Disney World. In September, a man used scuba gear to reach Paddlefish, the floating restaurant at Disney Springs, where he restrained employees and stole between $10,000 and $20,000. The suspect has not been located.

Guests have also raised concerns about missing belongings in resort hotel rooms. One guest wrote on Reddit that a $5,000 purse vanished from their room at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. “I had to go in person… the lobby [tried] to gaslight me to file a lost and found claim,” they wrote. “I said it’s not lost in the parks, it never left my room. They didn't care.” The purse reportedly disappeared on the only day the room received housekeeping.

This issue isn't limited to Disney World.

Over on the West Coast, guests have reported having items lifted from strollers at Disneyland Resort, while a video from Disney's OG Anaheim theme park showed merchandise security tags scattered on the ground from what appeared to be a recent theft in April.

Further afield, at Disneyland Paris, guests have complained about a spate of pickpocketing incidents in recent years – particularly in Disney Village and around the bus stops and Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy train station.
