Daredevil’s journey from Netflix’s shadowy streets to Disney+’s MCU spotlight has been remarkable. The original 2015 series focused on gritty, street-level drama, winning fans with its fight sequences, realism, and moral depth. Yet despite acclaim, the series ended in 2018 as Marvel prepared for Disney+.

Revival rumors began to take shape in 2022, after Marvel regained rights. Charlie Cox surprised fans in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), with Vincent D’Onofrio following in Hawkeye. Cox’s later appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law hinted at the reimagining that would become Born Again.

Daredevil: Born Again, a soft reboot, was announced in 2022 and reworked heavily during the 2023 Writers’ Strike. The original 18-episode plan was split into two nine-episode seasons, with new writers and directors ensuring a tone closer to the Netflix original.

Returning actors include Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), and Ayelet Zurer (Vanessa Fisk), replacing Sandrine Holt. Jon Bernthal’s Punisher also joins, bridging the Netflix era with the MCU.

Born Again premiered March 2025, with Murdock initially retired. Wilson Fisk’s political ambitions force him back into Hell’s Kitchen, delivering a mix of crime-thriller storytelling and MCU integration. Dario Scardapane serves as showrunner, with Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead directing.

Season 2 expands Hell’s Kitchen further, welcoming new faces like Wilson Bethel’s Bullseye, Margarita Levieva’s Heather Glenn, Matthew Lillard’s political figure Mr. Charles, and Michael Gandolfini as Fisk’s protégé. Season 2 arrives March 4, 2026, and a third season is confirmed as of September 2025.

Marvel is also relaunching the comics. “Following in the footsteps of legendary creative teams from the title’s esteemed history, [Stephanie Phillips] and [Lee Garbett] set out to redefine Daredevil for a new age!” Marvel writes. Matt Murdock becomes a law professor while facing Omen, a new supervillain.

Phillips said, “I'm taking on one of my favorite characters with one of my favorite artists, and together we're exploring Daredevil's noir sensibilities […] Lee Garbett brings so much style and emotion to every page, and I couldn't ask for a better partner to bring this version of Daredevil to life.”

Season 1 of Born Again saw Matt trying to leave the mask behind, only to confront escalating crime and a legal case pulling him back in. Fisk evolves into a political force, Frank Castle challenges his moral limits, and by the finale, Daredevil reclaims his identity, with the stage set for Season 2’s clash between justice, power, and corruption.

The solicitation warns, “Hell's Kitchen is full of secrets–but no secret stays buried for long! As a fearsome new super villain named OMEN has targeted MATT MURDOCK, it will be his alter-ego DAREDEVIL who takes the hits! BUT BEWARE! With both comic and screen projects on the horizon, Daredevil is poised to redefine Marvel’s street-level storytelling for years to come.

Thomas Hitchen

When he’s not thinking about the Magic Kingdom, Thomas is usually reading a book, becoming desperately obsessed with fictional characters, or baking something delicious (his favorite is chocolate cake -- to bake and to eat). He's a dreamer and grew up on Mulan saving the world, Jim Hawkins soaring through the stars, and Padmé Amidala fighting a Nexu. At the Parks, he loves to ride Everest, stroll down Main Street with an overstuffed pin lanyard around his neck, and eat as many Mickey-shaped ice creams as possible. His favorite character is Han Solo (yes, he did shoot first), and his favorite TV show is Buffy the Vampire Slayer except when it's One Tree Hill. He loves sandy beach walks, forest hikes, and foodie days out in the Big City. Thomas lives in England, UK, with his fiancée, baby, and their dog, a Border Collie called Luna.
