Disney Shutters Its Haunted Mansion Replacement, Effective Immediately

Disney has shuttered one park's replacement for Haunted Mansion.

First unveiled in 1969 at Disneyland, Haunted Mansion blended eerie atmosphere with playful humor, setting it apart from traditional horror attractions with 999 happy haunts. The ride later expanded to Walt Disney World and other resorts, becoming one of Disney’s most enduring and frequently reimagined dark rides.

Each version has its unique attributes. For example, at Walt Disney World, Haunted Mansion features a longer ride layout, an expanded graveyard scene, and a distinct exterior tied to Liberty Square (although some have theorized that the land doesn't have long left), setting it apart from Disneyland's New Orleans–inspired facade.

At Disneyland Paris, the attraction takes a darker turn. Phantom Manor is integrated into Frontierland, with a tragic narrative tied to Thunder Mesa, a more somber tone, and extended story elements.

The most unique version is located at Hong Kong Disneyland. Mystic Manor replaces ghosts with mischievous artifacts, removes the traditional Haunted Mansion storyline entirely, and centers on Lord Henry Mystic and his enchanted collection.

But as of today, this version of the attraction is closed.

Mystic Manor Closes To All Disney Park Guests

As per the Hong Kong Disneyland website, Mystic Manor is suspended from February 24 to March 9, 2026.

The Disney park attributes this closure to “operational adjustments.”

While it hasn't provided any details on these adjustments, it's safe to assume the attraction is just undergoing standard maintenance, given its short suspension period.

That means guests will temporarily be unable to experience chaos alongside the attraction's companion, Albert. The animatronic monkey plays a key role in the ride's plot (via the Hong Kong Disneyland website):

During an expedition, Lord Henry Mystic discovered a young monkey entangled in the web of a monstrous spider. He rescued the monkey and named him Albert. Taken with Albert and the tropical locale, Lord Henry decided to stay—christening the area Mystic Point and his home Mystic Manor.

Mystic Manor was built as a museum for the growing collection of art and artifacts gathered by members of Lord Henry’s team, the Society of Explorers and Adventurers (S.E.A.). And Albert, the foundling monkey, has become a key player in the life of Lord Henry, accompanying him on his adventures and charming members of the S.E.A. with his mischievous nature.

It's not the only attraction undergoing closure at the park right now. Hyperspace Mountain – the park's Star Wars-themed Space Mountain indoor roller coaster in Tomorrowland – is also shuttered as of today, and will remain out of action until late April 2026.

Mystic Manor is often considered the park's standout attraction – if not one of Disney's best rides, period.

“Mystic Manor is a MASTERCLASS of Walt Disney Imagineering from what I’ve seen!” wrote one Disney fan on Reddit.

Another wrote, “As someone who's been to all the parks except Shanghai, in my personal opinion, Mystic Manor is the BEST dark ride Disney has ever made. Absolutely amazing. If you have the chance to go to HK DL you won't regret it.”

Have you ever experienced Mystic Manor?
