After welcoming countless Halloween visitors, one of Disney’s most haunting attractions has gone dark. The iconic Haunted Mansion-style ride at Disneyland Paris Resort—known there as Phantom Manor—has officially closed its doors as of November 2025. Construction walls and barricades now surround the building as the attraction begins a scheduled refurbishment.
History of The Haunted Mansion

The Haunted Mansion is one of Disney’s most enduring attractions, having captivated guests for generations. Originally envisioned by Walt Disney as a “museum of the weird,” the concept evolved into a family-friendly Omnimover ride featuring a balance of eerie and whimsical storytelling. The first Haunted Mansion opened in 1969 at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, inside New Orleans Square. Its success inspired versions at Magic Kingdom Park in Florida (1971) and Tokyo Disneyland (1983), each with its own regional twists.
When Imagineers developed Disneyland Paris Resort, they reimagined the attraction for a European audience, creating Phantom Manor: a darker, more narrative-driven take on the classic Haunted Mansion. Meanwhile, in 2013, Shanghai Disneyland introduced Mystic Manor, a unique, spirit-free variation influenced by Chinese culture and mythology.
Phantom Manor Goes Dark

Unfortunately, guests hoping to experience Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris Resort will have to wait a little while. According to the resort’s official website, the attraction has closed for refurbishment, and barricades now block off the area. While Disney has not announced the specific reason for the closure, park visitors have reported that signage onsite lists the ride as unavailable through November 14.
