The full scope of Tuesday’s hazmat incident at Disneyland Park is coming into sharper focus, and the number of Disney cast members taken to local hospitals is higher than initially reported.
What Unfolded on Tuesday Afternoon

In the early afternoon on March 10, Southern California Disney Park guests were evacuated from Space Mountain, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, and the surrounding areas of Tomorrowland. Disney cast members took up positions blocking access to The Star Trader gift shop, the Space Mountain bathrooms, the top of Star Wars Launch Bay, and the nearby outdoor zones. The 1:30 p.m. “Celebrate Happy Cavalcade” performance was cancelled as employees guided guests out through backstage corridors.
Disneyland Resort and Anaheim Fire Department officials later confirmed the cause to theme park journalist Scott Gustin, who shared the update on X (formerly Twitter):
Building materials used by a contractor triggered a reaction backstage at Disneyland. Several cast members were treated on site by paramedics and released, while 5 experiencing dizziness and shortness of breath were taken to local hospitals.

Disneyland Resort confirmed that no guests were affected and that all closed attractions and guest areas would reopen once the Anaheim Fire Department gave the all-clear.
The Number Climbs to Eight

On Wednesday, Disneyland Resort confirmed that three additional employees had been transported to local hospitals for evaluation following the incident, bringing the total to eight. Gustin wrote:
8 Disneyland cast members who experienced dizziness and shortness of breath were transported to local hospitals for evaluation. This does not mean they were hospitalized or admitted, only that they were taken for further medical evaluation.
