Central Florida is bracing for a rough Monday afternoon, and Walt Disney World Resort guests are being urged to stay weather-aware as a potentially dangerous storm system moves in.
Dangerous Weather at Walt Disney World Resort

Strong to severe thunderstorms are forecast to push through the Walt Disney World Resort area between 1:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. today, with the most intense conditions expected to arrive mid-afternoon. The timing is particularly inconvenient: mid-afternoon is typically peak attendance at Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and Disney Springs. Universal Orlando Resort falls within the same impact zone.
The specifics of the threat warrant serious attention. Wind gusts between 45 and 55 mph are expected, with a 15% chance of hitting 60 mph or higher. Quarter-sized hail is in the forecast, carrying a 5% probability of reaching one inch or larger. Heavy rain and frequent lightning rounds out a storm profile that has meteorologists paying close attention. The coldest conditions are projected to settle in between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

The National Weather Service Tampa Bay laid out the threat on X (formerly Twitter):
Thunderstorms will move across the Florida peninsula today, with strong to severe thunderstorms possible. The main threats will be damaging wind gusts and hail, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Be sure to have multiple ways to receive weather warnings! ⛈️ #FLwx

No tornado watch or warning is currently active, but the NWS has been explicit that one cannot be ruled out. Disney Park guests are strongly encouraged to keep weather alerts enabled on their smartphones and check conditions regularly throughout the afternoon.

When lightning or high wind gusts arrive, Walt Disney World Resort generally suspends outdoor attractions, shuts down hotel pools, and pauses open-air experiences until conditions improve. Guests should plan to pivot toward indoor attractions during the worst of the storm and use hotel rooms or covered common areas as shelter if needed.
Eyes on the Rest of the Week
Today's storm also signals the start of another cold snap after Central Florida's already unseasonably chilly winter. Wind chills in the mid-to-upper 30s are expected by early Tuesday morning, with daytime temperatures running 20 to 25 degrees below Monday's pre-storm readings.

Temperatures are expected to recover steadily as the week progresses, with a possible return to 80-degree weather by the weekend.
