One long-running Disney attraction has been confirmed to close, and another could be affected by the same set of changes.
The update came this week from The Oriental Land Company, which said Aquatopia will permanently shut in September at Tokyo DisneySea.
The ride opened in 2001 and uses a concealed trackless system to guide vehicles across shallow water.
No replacement attraction has been announced.
The closure follows earlier planning materials.
Concept art released in April 2025 showed a reworked version of the surrounding Port Discovery area, with Aquatopia not included. Other nearby attractions appeared in place, suggesting a targeted redevelopment rather than a full land overhaul.
A separate set of visuals pointed to changes elsewhere.
These focused on Adventureland at Tokyo Disneyland, incorporating newer Disney and Pixar properties, including Moana, Up, and The Incredibles.
Several existing attractions were not shown.
Jungle Cruise Not Included in Future Plans
Jungle Cruise was one of the attractions missing from those images.
The ride remains one of Disney’s longest-running concepts. Guests travel by boat through staged jungle environments, encountering animatronic animals such as elephants and crocodiles, with live narration from a skipper.
At Tokyo Disneyland, the attraction operates as Jungle Cruise: Wildlife Expeditions following a 2014 update.
Its absence from the concept art has led to speculation about its future.
Local reports in Japan have indicated that the attraction could close if Adventureland is redeveloped, although no official decision has been announced.
Seasonal Event Draws Attention
Additional details have come from seasonal programming.
This summer, guests riding Jungle Cruise: Wildlife Expeditions will receive themed stickers as part of a limited-time experience.
The messaging has prompted some reaction online.

The speculation follows previous changes at the resort.
Grand Circuit Raceway closed in 2017, and Space Mountain is currently being rebuilt rather than refurbished. Other attractions have also seen temporary overlays tied to existing franchises.
Separately, reports have suggested that a third gate, sometimes referred to as Tokyo DisneySky, could be under consideration, though The Oriental Land Company has not confirmed those plans.
Jungle Cruise remains in operation. No timeline has been announced for any potential closure.
