Disney World Report Details 2 Guest Hospitalizations at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom

When most people think about Disney World attractions, they picture magical rides, fireworks, and family memories. Injuries are usually the last thing anyone expects to hear about coming out of Magic Kingdom or Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

But according to a recent injury report from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, two separate Disney World guests were hospitalized following incidents earlier this year.

The report, which was also discussed by AllEars, tracks major incidents reported by Florida theme parks that resulted in at least 24 hours of hospitalization.

One of the incidents happened on a ride that many guests probably would never expect to appear in a state injury report.

Back on February 2, a 65-year-old woman reportedly fell while exiting Prince Charming Regal Carrousel at Magic Kingdom. The guest suffered a pelvis injury during the incident.

The Fantasyland attraction has been part of Disney World since opening day in 1971 and is considered one of the park’s gentlest experiences. Unlike high-speed roller coasters or intense thrill rides, the carousel is designed as a classic family attraction that appeals to guests of all ages.

Still, even slower rides can present risks.

Stepping on and off attractions may seem simple, but factors like moving platforms, uneven footing, exhaustion, or balance issues can sometimes lead to serious falls, especially for older guests.

Disney Cast Members are stationed throughout the attraction to help with loading and unloading, but accidents can still happen in busy environments where thousands of people cycle through rides every day.

The second reported injury happened over at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on February 17.

According to the report, a 40-year-old woman with a preexisting condition injured her shoulder while riding Kali River Rapids.

That attraction is much more intense physically than Prince Charming Regal Carrousel. Kali River Rapids sends riders through swirling water, sudden drops, spinning raft movements, and rapid currents designed to simulate a white-water rafting adventure.

Depending on where guests are sitting, the ride experience can feel very different from one cycle to the next. Some riders barely get splashed, while others are suddenly thrown into rougher movements as the raft rotates.

Disney includes multiple health and safety warnings outside the attraction advising guests about the physical demands of the ride. Guests with back, neck, or motion-related concerns are encouraged to carefully consider whether they should ride.

The report did not provide additional details about the guest’s preexisting condition.

It is also important to understand that these reports only cover incidents serious enough to require extended hospitalization. That means the vast majority of smaller injuries, slips, or minor ride-related medical situations are not included.

Disney World still maintains one of the strongest safety reputations in the theme park industry, especially considering the enormous number of guests visiting every single year. Millions of people ride Disney attractions safely each month.

But these incidents still serve as a reminder that guests need to remain aware of their surroundings throughout the parks.

Long days, heat, fatigue, crowds, and constant movement can sometimes create situations where accidents happen unexpectedly, even on attractions that seem harmless at first glance.
