EPCOT's most recognizable landmark, Spaceship Earth, is getting a patriotic makeover this summer, and it's just one piece of a Walt Disney World Resort-wide celebration marking a milestone that comes around only once every 250 years.
Spaceship Earth Goes Red, White, and Blue

On June 2, The Walt Disney Company shared details of its plans to celebrate America's 250th anniversary, with EPCOT at the center of the action. Theme park journalist Scott Gustin broke down the announcements on X (formerly known as Twitter):
Disney says Walt Disney World will celebrate America's 250th anniversary with patriotic lighting on Spaceship Earth, Voices of Liberty performances, the Electrical Water Pageant, Main Street, U.S.A. décor, character experiences, and limited-time food across the resort.

Spaceship Earth will be transformed with a patriotic light show, turning the iconic geodesic sphere into a canvas for Independence Day. The American Adventure Pavilion in EPCOT's World Showcase will also offer additional Voices of Liberty performances during the celebration.
What's Happening Across the Resort

The Fourth of July festivities extend well beyond EPCOT. Magic Kingdom Park will mark America's 250th birthday with special performances of the Electrical Water Pageant — the beloved floating light show on the Seven Seas Lagoon — alongside additional red, white, and blue decorations throughout Main Street, U.S.A.
Special character experiences and limited-time food and beverage offerings will be available across Walt Disney World Resort as part of the broader celebration. Specific details about character meet-and-greets, menu items, and entertainment showtimes haven't been released yet, with Walt Disney World Resort expected to share more information as July 4 approaches.

The patriotic push at Walt Disney World Resort joins the already-running Soarin' Across America overlay, which updated the classic flight simulator attraction at both EPCOT and Disneyland Resort in honor of the country's semiquincentennial. A two-hour television special from The Walt Disney Company is also part of the broader anniversary celebration announced Tuesday.
