Disney Announces Exact Closure Date for Fan-Favorite Winnie the Pooh Attraction

A closure date has been confirmed for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

Disney parks may share many of the same characters, but they don't always share the same attractions. Winnie the Pooh is an exception, with several versions of the ride offering different experiences depending on where guests visit.

Rather than cloning a single attraction, Disney built unique takes on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh around the world. Different ride systems, layouts, and exclusive scenes have helped each version develop its own following among Disney fans.

The original The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh opened at Magic Kingdom in 1999, replacing the beloved Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Versions later arrived at Tokyo Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Shanghai Disneyland, each adding something different to the classic dark ride.

Tokyo Disneyland's attraction, Pooh's Hunny Hunt, is often considered the standout thanks to its innovative trackless ride system, which allows honey pots to move independently through the Hundred Acre Wood. Shanghai Disneyland also features The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, alongside Hunny Pot Spin, a spinning family attraction inspired by the same characters.

Hong Kong Disneyland's version includes exclusive scenes and updated animation not found elsewhere, making it a popular stop for Disney fans visiting the resort.

Disney Confirms Winnie the Pooh Ride Closure

Guests planning a visit next month will temporarily lose access to one of the park's best-known Fantasyland attractions.

Hong Kong Disneyland has confirmed that The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh will close for refurbishment beginning July 12. According to the resort's official website, the attraction is scheduled to reopen on July 19.

Disney has not revealed what work will take place during the closure. However, the relatively short refurbishment suggests the project is likely focused on routine maintenance rather than any significant changes to the attraction.

Guests looking for their Winnie the Pooh fix during the closure can still meet Pooh and friends at Fantasy Gardens, also located in Fantasyland. Disney has not said whether the attraction's gift shop will remain open while work is underway.

The Pooh ride isn't the only attraction currently out of service.

Tarzan's Treehouse and the Rafts to Tarzan's Treehouse both remain closed, with no reopening date announced. Their lengthy closures have led some guests to speculate that the attractions may never return.

Hong Kong Disneyland Railroad's Main Street Station is also closed and is expected to remain unavailable through at least late September.

Meanwhile, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! in Tomorrowland's Marvel-themed Stark Expo area is temporarily closed but is currently scheduled to reopen on July 4.

More Changes Continue Across the Disney Resort

The refurbishment comes as Hong Kong Disneyland continues work on several major projects.

The resort is preparing to open a new Pixar-themed area between Toy Story Land and World of Frozen in 2027. Disney is also building a new Marvel attraction inspired by Spider-Man in the Stark Expo section of Tomorrowland.

Visitors this summer can still experience Pixar Summer Fest, featuring the Pixar Pals Spectacular before the nighttime show Momentous. The seasonal event also includes the Pixar Water Play Street Party! and the Friendtastic! Parade.

Although the Winnie the Pooh closure will only last a week, guests visiting during that period will need to plan around another temporary attraction closure as Disney continues maintaining existing experiences while preparing for future additions.
