A structure near the Haunted Mansion in Liberty Square has gone from steel skeleton to fully enclosed building in just over a week, marking the latest visible milestone in one of Magic Kingdom Park's longest-running construction projects.
The Building Takes Shape

On June 30, WDWNT reported that the steel framework spotted roughly a week ago on a building across from Memento Mori — long used as an extension of the Haunted Mansion queue — has now been completely enclosed. The original framework, which included a roof structure and what appeared to be a window opening, remains visible along the roofline for now but is expected to be covered as the work continues.
Walt Disney World Resort has not commented on what the finished building will be used for. The structure sits near the former edge of the Rivers of America, putting it directly in the path of the broader Frontierland transformation currently underway. Whether it will remain a Haunted Mansion queue extension or be absorbed into the incoming Piston Peak National Park expansion hasn't been confirmed.

The building work connects to a months-long exterior refurbishment of the Haunted Mansion itself, which has kept scaffolding and themed scrim wrapped around the 54-year-old attraction for an extended period. Some of that scaffolding has recently come down, revealing a newly repainted cupola at the top of the building, finished in a metallic green that matches other exterior details on the structure.
The timing of the Haunted Mansion exterior work appears tied to the construction of Piston Peak National Park, the Cars (2006)-inspired land taking shape in Frontierland, along with a separate Disney Villains land planned for the area beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. While Walt Disney World Resort hasn't confirmed the connection, early construction activity suggests that portions of the Haunted Mansion previously hidden backstage may become visible to guests once the surrounding areas open.

Despite all the activity surrounding it, the Haunted Mansion attraction itself remains open and operating normally. Walt Disney World Resort has given no indication that the ride will need to close during the ongoing exterior work.
