July has brought more emergency evacuations to Walt Disney World than many guests can remember. Instead of spending the month talking about new entertainment or vacation memories, visitors have repeatedly found themselves leaving hotels, attractions, buses, restaurants, and even the Monorail as emergencies unfolded.
Now, another overnight evacuation has been added to that growing list.
Guests staying at Disney's Contemporary Resort reported being awakened around 2 a.m. after an emergency announcement instructed them to evacuate. The interruption didn't last long, but it marked the eighth reported evacuation connected to Walt Disney World during July.
Here's how the month unfolded.
The First Evacuation Happened at Wilderness Lodge
The string of incidents began on July 1 at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.
Guests at the deluxe resort were temporarily evacuated after an unidentified emergency prompted Cast Members to clear the building. Disney did not publicly identify the cause, but visitors later reported they were allowed back inside once the situation had been resolved.
It wouldn't be the only evacuation that day.
Magic Kingdom Experienced Another Emergency
Later on July 1, “it's a small world” was also reportedly evacuated.
According to guest accounts, a portable phone charger caught fire near the attraction's loading area, prompting Cast Members to clear the ride while emergency personnel responded. Videos shared online appeared to show first responders arriving as guests exited the attraction.
The reported fire was handled quickly, and no serious injuries were reported.
The next evacuation came nearly three weeks later.
Smoke Stopped a Disney Bus
On July 20, guests riding a Walt Disney World bus had to evacuate after smoke was seen coming from the vehicle.
Photos posted online showed smoke surrounding the bus while emergency crews responded. Everyone exited safely before Disney removed the vehicle to address the situation.
Only four days later, another pair of incidents unfolded at deluxe resorts.
Yacht Club Guests Leave the Hotel
Disney's Yacht Club Resort became the next location to evacuate on July 24.
A fire alarm sent guests and Cast Members outside while emergency procedures were carried out. After officials cleared the building, everyone was allowed to return, and normal operations resumed.
The neighboring resort wouldn't be far behind.
Beach Club Followed Shortly After
Not long after the Yacht Club evacuation, Disney's Beach Club Resort also experienced a separate fire alarm.
Although the resorts sit next to each other, reports indicated this was a separate evacuation. Like the earlier incident, guests returned inside after responders determined it was safe.
The next reported evacuation involved Disney transportation.
Medical Emergency Halts the Monorail
On July 27, the Walt Disney World Monorail was evacuated after a service animal reportedly suffered a medical emergency onboard.
Passengers exited while Cast Members and emergency personnel responded. Later reports stated that the animal died following the incident.
That added another transportation-related emergency to an already unusual month.
Disney Springs Restaurant Clears Out
Another evacuation happened on July 29 at Morimoto Asia in Disney Springs.
A fire alarm prompted guests and employees to leave the restaurant while the building was checked. Videos posted online showed diners waiting outside before they were eventually allowed back in to continue their meals.
The latest incident would once again involve one of Disney World's deluxe resorts.
Contemporary Resort Guests Evacuated Overnight
The newest reported evacuation took place at Disney's Contemporary Resort.
Guests shared TikTok videos showing people gathered outside after an announcement warned of a “fire emergency reported in the building.” According to those guests, the evacuation happened around 2 a.m.
Fortunately, the interruption appeared to be short. Guests said Cast Members informed them they could return to their rooms after officials finished responding to the situation.
Disney has not publicly explained what caused the emergency announcement.

An Unexpected Pattern Across the Resort
Walt Disney World has well-established emergency procedures, and evacuations occasionally happen whenever safety concerns arise. Even so, seeing eight reported evacuations involving hotels, an attraction, transportation, and Disney Springs during a single month is unusual.
Fortunately, each reported incident resulted in no serious injuries to guests, allowing vacations to continue once emergency responders and Cast Members determined it was safe to resume normal operations.
