If Haunted Mansion has been sitting near the top of your Disneyland must-do list, the wait is almost over.
Tomorrow, August 21, Disneyland will officially reopen the New Orleans Square attraction after a 13-day closure. But the mansion guests enter tomorrow will look much different from the one Disney closed earlier this month.

Haunted Mansion Holiday is back.
The seasonal layover inspired by The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) returns August 21, bringing Jack Skellington, Sally, Oogie Boogie, and plenty of unusual holiday decorations back to the 1969 Disneyland attraction.
And with opening day now just hours away, the mansion appears ready for guests.
Disneyland Removes Scrims Before Opening Day
Disneyland visitors got another look at the attraction on August 20.
Matt (@DisneyScoopGuy) posted a short video on X showing that the scrims surrounding Haunted Mansion Holiday had come down.

The timing couldn't be better.
Disneyland previously announced that Haunted Mansion would close beginning August 8 and return August 21. August 7 therefore became the final day to experience the traditional version before the seasonal conversion began.
Crews have spent the days since making extensive changes throughout the attraction.
Haunted Mansion Will Be Different Tomorrow
Haunted Mansion Holiday doesn't replace the underlying attraction, but it changes a considerable amount of what guests experience.
Jack Skellington brings his unusual interpretation of Christmas into the mansion as “Sandy Claws.” Sally, Oogie Boogie, and other characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) join him.

Disney also changes scenes throughout the ride with seasonal props, music, effects, and decorations.
Even the mansion's exterior becomes part of the transformation.
Then there is the ballroom gingerbread house, which has become an annual tradition of its own. Disney has traditionally created a new gingerbread design each year rather than simply bringing back the exact same centerpiece.
All of that work had to happen during a closure lasting less than two weeks.
August 21 Is Finally Here
Tomorrow’s reopening also lines up with the official start of Disneyland Resort’s Halloween Time, which runs from August 21 through October 31 this year. Disney specifically lists the Haunted Mansion Holiday makeover among the experiences connected to the seasonal celebration.
Haunted Mansion Holiday itself will stick around much longer.
Disney plans for the seasonal attraction to continue through the end of 2026 and into early 2027.

For fans of the original mansion, that means there is a lengthy wait ahead before the classic version returns.
For everyone excited to see Jack Skellington take over again, the countdown is much shorter.
The scrims are down. The transformation is nearly complete. The closure that began August 8 is reaching its scheduled end.
Tomorrow is opening day for Haunted Mansion Holiday at Disneyland.
