The Jurassic Park franchise is returning to Isla Nublar, but not in the way fans might expect.
While Universal Pictures is developing Jurassic World 5, another project is already preparing to return to the island made famous by Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park (1993).
Jurassic Park: Survival (TBA) has been in development for several years, and the behind-the-scenes video shared last year offers a closer look at what Saber Interactive is building.
The game was first announced at The Game Awards in December 2023. Updates have been relatively scarce since then, with IGN sharing an exclusive Q&A with the developers in 2024 and Saber releasing its deep-dive featurette in August 2025.
More recently, the team confirmed that development remains underway.

Saber is recreating Isla Nublar with the original movie firmly in mind, including locations such as the Visitor Center and InGen's genetics laboratories.
The player will experience the story through Dr. Maya Joshi, an InGen scientist who remains stranded on Nublar after the park's evacuation. Payal Mistry provides the character's performance through motion capture, with the actor describing Maya's journey as an important part of the game's story.
There are, however, reasons for fans of the original movie to remain cautious.
The dinosaurs shown so far, including the Velociraptor, Dilophosaurus, and T. rex, have prompted debate because they appear closer to the Jurassic World designs than the creatures seen in Spielberg's 1993 movie. That's particularly notable given Saber and Universal's emphasis on recreating the original film.
The first-person perspective also raises questions. A game centered around “a fully realized Isla Nublar” could arguably lend itself to a third-person format, although first-person gameplay does have an obvious advantage when it comes to survival horror and immersion.
Then there's the setting. Survival begins only 24 hours after the events of Jurassic Park, meaning players will once again explore a location audiences have already seen extensively.
That could either make the game a detailed return to one of cinema's most recognizable settings or leave it feeling overly dependent on nostalgia.
Survival has no release date yet, but it's planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
Meanwhile, Jurassic World 5 remains in early development following director Gareth Edwards' departure over creative differences. Scarlett Johansson (Zora Bennett), Mahershala Ali (Duncan Kincaid), and Jonathan Bailey (Henry Loomis) are all reportedly reprising their roles, with David Koepp attached to write the script once again. The film is expected to start shooting in 2027.
