Disney Sets 2027 Shutdown for Popular World Showcase Restaurant

One of EPCOT's established World Showcase restaurants is heading toward a temporary shutdown in 2027.

Rose & Crown Dining Room has served as a familiar stop in the United Kingdom pavilion for guests looking for a sit-down meal. Beginning in February, however, visitors will need to look elsewhere.

Disney is preparing to close the restaurant for refurbishment, and the project could keep it unavailable for several weeks.

While this isn't a permanent closure, Disney hasn't provided all the details guests may want before planning an early 2027 trip.

EPCOT Restaurant Will Close February 15

The closure begins Monday, February 15, 2027.

From that point forward, Rose & Crown Dining Room will remain closed while refurbishment work takes place.

Disney has given an early-spring timeframe for its return rather than a specific reopening date. The company also hasn't announced exactly what it plans to change or repair during the project.

Without those details, it's difficult to know whether guests should expect noticeable differences when the restaurant returns.

What is clear is that anyone traveling during the closure won't be able to have a traditional sit-down meal at Rose & Crown Dining Room.

Other United Kingdom Dining Options Survive the Closure

Thankfully, the refurbishment won't shut down every nearby option.

Rose & Crown Pub is expected to remain open while the dining room undergoes work.

Yorkshire County Fish Shop will remain open as well, meaning guests can still find British food and drinks within the United Kingdom pavilion.

That's an important distinction for visitors worried that the refurbishment will eliminate those choices completely.

Still, guests hoping specifically for the full Rose & Crown Dining Room experience will have to wait for the restaurant to reopen.

How Long Could the Refurbishment Last?

That's the biggest unanswered question.

Disney currently says Rose & Crown Dining Room will return in early spring, leaving plenty of room for speculation about the actual date.

There is some previous history worth considering.

Rose & Crown Dining Room underwent another refurbishment around the same time in 2021. Following that closure, reservations became available again beginning March 21.

The previous timeline may offer some context, but it shouldn't be treated as a prediction for 2027.

Disney hasn't revealed the scope of the upcoming work, and there's no guarantee the two projects will require the same amount of time.

Guests planning February or early-spring vacations should therefore avoid counting on Rose & Crown reopening by a particular date until Disney provides something more concrete.

Another Change for Early 2027 EPCOT Visitors

A restaurant closure won't completely reshape a day at EPCOT, but it can still create headaches for guests who plan their park visits around dining reservations.

That's especially true at World Showcase, where eating and drinking around the different pavilions can become a major part of the experience.

For longtime visitors, individual restaurants can also become traditions.

Rose & Crown Dining Room falls into that category for some families, which makes even a temporary closure worth knowing about before arriving.

Guests visiting during the refurbishment won't be completely out of luck. Rose & Crown Pub and Yorkshire County Fish Shop will continue operating, and EPCOT offers numerous other places to eat throughout World Showcase.

Still, anyone who had Rose & Crown Dining Room near the top of their list will need a backup.

For now, February 15 is the key date. After that, guests will be waiting for Disney to finish the work and officially welcome diners back sometime in early spring.
