Disney World has made an unexpected change to one of Magic Kingdom's most recognizable attractions, restoring something that has been missing for more than a year.
With so much attention focused on major construction projects and upcoming attractions, it's easy to overlook the smaller changes happening throughout Walt Disney World.
However, those updates can sometimes have the biggest impact on families, especially when they involve attractions designed for younger children.

Now, one of Fantasyland's longtime favorites has received a welcome improvement, and guests visiting Magic Kingdom may notice the difference immediately.
A Missing Part of This Classic Disney Attraction Has Returned
Dumbo the Flying Elephant has remained a staple of Magic Kingdom since the park opened in 1971.
Located in Storybook Circus, the attraction allows guests to soar above Fantasyland aboard colorful flying elephants inspired by Disney's animated classic Dumbo (1941).
Although the ride itself has continued welcoming guests, one part of its queue experience has been unavailable for an extended period.
That finally changed on October 26, 2026.
According to WDW News Today, the second level of Dumbo's indoor playground has officially reopened after remaining closed for at least a year.
During a visit to Magic Kingdom, the outlet observed children playing in the previously inaccessible upper-level netted area.
The reopening restores another portion of the attraction's unique waiting experience, giving younger guests additional space to explore before boarding.
Disney hasn't announced why the upper level was closed for so long, and no specific explanation has been provided for the timing of its return.
Nevertheless, the change is welcome news for families who regularly visit the attraction.
Dumbo Offers Something Most Disney World Attractions Don't
While Dumbo the Flying Elephant may not feature the elaborate technology found in newer Disney attractions, its queue offers something particularly valuable for parents.
Instead of requiring children to spend their entire wait standing in line, Disney provides an indoor playground where they can burn off energy before riding.
The play area features circus-themed elements and seating for adults, creating a more relaxed environment for families.
It's an especially useful feature during busy park days when younger guests may become restless after spending hours walking through Magic Kingdom.
However, families haven't been able to experience the entire playground for quite some time.
The upper level remained unavailable even after Disney completed a previous refurbishment of the space.
Now, children can once again explore both levels, restoring the attraction's full indoor play experience.

Disney Finally Completes a Long-Awaited Reopening
The playground's recent history makes this latest change particularly interesting.
Disney began refurbishing the indoor play area in February 2025, temporarily removing the experience from operation.
After delays, the playground eventually reopened in July 2025, but the second level remained closed.
For more than a year, guests visiting Dumbo encountered a playground that was technically open but still missing part of its original experience.
That restriction has finally ended.
The timing also comes just ahead of Walt Disney World's holiday celebrations, when Magic Kingdom typically welcomes large numbers of families.
Although the reopening doesn't introduce a new ride or change Dumbo's familiar flying experience, it does restore an important feature that helps distinguish the attraction from other Fantasyland offerings.
For longtime Disney fans, it's another reminder that not every meaningful park improvement requires a major construction project.
Sometimes, simply bringing back something guests have been missing can make a difference.
And after more than a year of waiting, families visiting Dumbo the Flying Elephant can finally enjoy the entire indoor playground once again.
