A fresh coat of paint is being applied to the rockwork outside Phantom Manor at Disneyland Park (Paris). The work is small in scale, and it arrives just ahead of the ride‘s annual maintenance closure.
A Darker Take on the Haunted House

Phantom Manor opened alongside Disneyland Paris Resort on April 12, 1992, and it remains the only version of this ride at any Disney park. Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort, and Tokyo Disney Resort have the Haunted Mansion, while Hong Kong Disneyland Resort has Mystic Manor. Shanghai Disney Resort has no haunted house attraction of its own.
Although Phantom Manor includes scenes that resemble those in the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Park in California and Magic Kingdom Park in Florida, its story is much darker and leans heavily on Old West imagery. Imagineers have pointed to Gaston Leroux's novel “The Phantom of the Opera” as a major influence on the attraction, which they designed to appeal to a European audience rather than an American one.
Painting Outside the Entrance

On October 28, X (formerly known as Twitter) user @DLPReport posted photos of Disney cast members repainting the dark rockwork outside the Phantom Manor entrance, writing:

The area is roped off with large barriers and “wet paint” signs, so guests may find part of the approach blocked while the work continues. Disneyland Paris Resort hasn't commented on this specific project.
A Closure Is Coming

More construction is coming. Phantom Manor is scheduled to close for refurbishment on November 16 and reopen on November 28. The Frontierland attraction typically goes down for annual maintenance around this time of year, after the Disney Halloween Festival celebration at Disneyland Park (Paris) wraps up.
Guests planning a visit in late November should keep those dates in mind, since the ride will be unavailable for roughly two weeks.
