The Jurassic Park franchise could have expanded onto television much earlier than it did, with an ambitious animated spin-off once planned to run for an entire season. Now, more than three decades later, footage created to pitch the abandoned project has surfaced online.
Known as Escape from Jurassic Park, the proposed series was developed as a follow-up to Steven Spielberg's blockbuster.
According to JP fan site Jurassic Outpost, which explored the project's history in 2016, plans had been drawn up for a 23-episode first season. However, the production never advanced beyond its development stage, and no full episode was completed.

Now, newly shared material gives an indication of what viewers might have seen.
Animator Will Meugniot oversaw the project, with artist William Stout contributing to the designs of the characters and dinosaurs. Its visual approach combined traditional animation with computer-generated imagery (CGI), which was also used to demonstrate the proposed show's style in the pitch footage.
Jurassic Library shared the teaser on X (formerly Twitter) on October 31, 2026, announcing that the animated pitch trailers had finally been found. The account also promised further information. However, some commenters have questioned whether the footage is genuine or AI-generated, prompting Jurassic Library to respond, “It's real. We don't post fakes.”
After all of these years, it has finally been found!

Elsewhere, FirstShowing.net reports that the newly surfaced footage has been verified against previously discovered production material by Jurassic Outpost, which previously documented the abandoned series in 2016.
Why Was the Animated Jurassic Park Series Canceled?
The proposed show would have picked up from the events of the original movie. John Hammond was expected to pursue plans to reopen the dinosaur attraction to the public, while BioSyn, a rival genetics company, would have been pursuing its own dinosaur-related ambitions.
Despite the work put into the concept, Escape from Jurassic Park never received the green light to proceed, and the project ultimately became a forgotten piece of Jurassic Park history. The franchise eventually found success with animated productions such as Netflix's Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, but this earlier proposal never got the opportunity to reach an audience.
