As Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 4 continues to expand the Jurassic Park/Jurassic World franchise in exciting new ways, fans are now beginning to wonder whether legacy characters like Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), and Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) will show up in a future season, whether that’s Season 4 or beyond.
While the animated series connects heavily to the events of the latest sequel, Jurassic World Dominion (2022), it notably excludes key characters from the films.
But as Chaos Theory continues to delve into the wider franchise, it seems inevitable that original Jurassic characters will appear. Unfortunately, should they ever show up in a future season, they will more than likely be recast. Why? Because it’s already happened.
The animated side of the Jurassic franchise has already recast certain roles: Henry Wu, Lewis Dodgson, and Barry Sembène all appear throughout the previous show, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous (2020–2022) and Chaos Theory. However, they’re voiced by Gren Chun, Adam Harrington, and Evan Michael Lee, respectively, as opposed to BD Wong, Campbell Scott (Dominion), and Omar Sy, who play them in the film series.
The challenge of recasting main characters like Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm, though, or even members of the Jurassic World ensemble–Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), and Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon)–is not to be underestimated, as it may not go down too well with fans.
Still, it would be thrilling to see these beloved characters live on in animation.
But never say never – after all, Dominion‘s Dichen Lachman reprises her role as Soyona Santos in Chaos Theory, so we may not have seen the last of Goldblum and the gang.

Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 3 is streaming on Netflix. It stars Paul-Mikél Williams (Darius Bowman), Sean Giambrone (Ben Pincus), Kausar Mohammed (Yasmina “Yaz” Fadoula), Darren Barnet (Kenji Kon), Raini Rodriguez (Sammy Gutierrez), Kiersten Kelly (Brooklynn), and Dichen Lachman (Soyona Santos).
