New ‘Jurassic World’ Installment Replaces Five Actors

Jurassic World: Chaos Theory Season 3 brings back plenty of familiar characters — but not all of them sound the way audiences remember.

Recasting is nothing new for animated projects. Live-action stars rarely return when the same characters transition to animation, and the Jurassic franchise is no exception.

Dr. Henry Wu, portrayed by BD Wong on the big screen, was voiced by Greg Chun in Camp Cretaceous. Similarly, Biosyn CEO Lewis Dodgson, originally introduced by Cameron Thor in Jurassic Park (1993) and later played by Campbell Scott in Jurassic World Dominion (2022), is voiced in Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory by Adam Harrington.

What stands out this season, however, is Dichen Lachman’s return as Soyona Santos. Lachman, who played the black market dealer in Dominion, continues her role in the series following her Season 2 debut, becoming the first Jurassic actor to voice their character in live-action and animation, setting an interesting precedent for the franchise.

The character of Brooklynn, previously voiced by Jenna Ortega, was also recast before Chaos Theory premiered on Netflix last year. Ortega, who voiced Brooklynn across all five seasons of Camp Cretaceous, was unable to continue in Chaos Theory due to her increasingly busy schedule. Now, Kiersten Kelly voices the character.

And then there’s Ryan Potter, who voiced Kenji Kon in Camp Cretaceous seasons one to five, but stepped away, leaving Darren Barnet to fill the role in Chaos Theory.

Now, another notable change in Season 3 comes with Barry Sembène. In the films, Barry was played by Omar Sy, appearing first as a Velociraptor trainer in Jurassic World (2015) and later as a French Intelligence operative in Dominion.

In Chaos Theory, Barry returns to the action alongside Darius Bowman (Paul-Mikél Williams), Ben Pincus (Sean Giambrone), Yasmina Fadoula (Kausar Mohammed), Kenji Kon (Darren Barnet), Sammy Gutierrez (Raini Rodriguez), and Brooklynn (Kiersten Kelly), but this time he’s voiced by Evan Michael Lee, with Omar Sy nowhere in sight.

Whether future seasons of Chaos Theory will feature more live-action stars reprising their roles is unknown. Big names like Owen Grady (Chris Pratt), Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon), and even Alan Grant (Sam Neill) could potentially make animated appearances — but so far, the series has stuck with a blend of returning animation voices and new casting choices.

As Chaos Theory Season 3 continues to build connections between the films and the animated universe, its mix of returning roles and fresh voices ensures that the story remains familiar, yet evolves in new directions.
