The transformation of Test Track at EPCOT is racing forward, with big milestones and sneak peeks offering a look at what’s coming to World Discovery. The attraction, presented by General Motors, is being reimagined with fresh energy and a meaningful nod to the past.

Earlier this year, fans got their first real taste of progress when Walt Disney Imagineering released a video during Women in Construction Week. The footage, shared on Instagram, featured Project Engineer Carleigh giving a walk-through of the reimagined attraction’s work zone. With the original queue area fully cleared, it was clear that bold changes were underway.
Just a few months later, excitement grew again with the arrival of a brand-new marquee sign. Walt Disney Imagineering’s Instagram spotlighted the new glowing logo and its sleek integration with the modern architecture of the building. “Installation of the new marquee at Test Track presented by @generalmotors has begun!” read the caption.

This redesign marks the continuation of a long-running collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and General Motors. The two teams are developing what Disney describes as “an all-new storyline,” blending innovation with familiar themes. That blend includes a special tribute to World of Motion, the original EPCOT attraction that occupied the space before Test Track debuted.
Fans can mark their calendars—Test Track will officially reopen to the public on July 22, 2025, and it will be included in the top tier of Lightning Lane access. In the words of the Disney Parks Blog, “Get ready to feel the thrill of the open road, the wind in your hair, and nothing but adventure ahead!”

Annual Passholders will have a chance to experience the attraction early, thanks to exclusive previews set for July 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, and 19. The My Disney Experience app now displays details on how to join the virtual queue: eligible guests may request access at 7:00 a.m. with a valid Annual Pass and EPCOT reservation, or at 1:00 p.m. with just the Annual Pass. Reservations for July 13 are already filled. Disney has not commented on the absence of July 17 from the schedule.
The return of the virtual queue for Test Track comes as Disney shifts its operations across the resort. Over at Magic Kingdom, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure recently moved to standby access, and Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT followed suit—with opening-day wait times stretching up to three hours. These operational changes reflect how Disney is reimagining crowd flow for its most popular experiences.

Test Track’s refresh was first teased during the D23 Expo 2024, where Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro discussed Imagineering’s ambitious plans across the globe. “Imagineers dream, create, design and build these stories into real places,” he said. “And we have Imagineers in place right now all around the world… Plans are drawn. Dirt is moving.”
That momentum isn’t limited to EPCOT. Over at Magic Kingdom, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has closed indefinitely as work begins on the “Beyond Big Thunder” expansion. At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, fresh plans are shifting toward a new Monsters, Inc.-themed land. With Universal’s Epic Universe now open just down the road, fans are recalibrating their Disney visits to catch everything new.

And for EPCOT loyalists, the refreshed Test Track represents more than just a new thrill—it’s a celebration of the park’s spirit, where progress and nostalgia meet. From illuminated signage to reimagined vehicles, the journey ahead promises a high-speed adventure like no other.
