A Major Problem Haunts Slinky Dog Dash — Disney Is Addressing It

If you’ve ever spent a day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you know the struggle: wait times at some of the park’s most popular rides can take up your entire day.

From Rise of the Resistance to Slinky Dog Dash, it feels like every attraction has a massive line no matter the time of day. Even early morning “rope drop” strategies often result in a mad dash with hundreds of other guests all heading to the same rides.

Many fans have been vocal about the need for more attractions or, at the very least, some kind of relief from the constant lines. It seems Disney may finally be listening. A new permit has been filed for Sunset Showcase, indicating that the theater is set to debut a new show, Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After, this summer. This live production will bring villains like Maleficent and Captain Hook to the stage in a high-energy performance designed to draw crowds.

But here’s the big question: will another show really help with the long ride wait times? Shows like the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular already offer a place for guests to relax and be entertained, but they don’t seem to pull enough traffic away from major rides.

For many guests, the real solution lies in expanding the park with new lands and rides. Fortunately, Disney has plans in the works. A Monsters Inc.-themed land has been announced, and a live Little Mermaid show is expected to return. However, these projects are still a ways off, with no concrete opening dates yet.

In the meantime, the new villains show could serve as a small step in the right direction. It’s designed to be a large-scale experience that brings something fresh to Hollywood Studios without requiring a full ride queue. Whether it will have a meaningful impact on wait times remains to be seen.

If you’re planning a trip to Hollywood Studios, it’s best to stay ahead of the game. Book your Lightning Lanes early and be strategic with your schedule. Disney might be working on solutions, but for now, patience is still a must.
