After Shutting Down Animal Kingdom Attraction, Disney Provides MAJOR Update

If you’ve visited Walt Disney World in the last few months, you’ve probably noticed that a lot of things are changing—and not all for the better. Several fan-favorite attractions have been closing down, either for refurbishments or as part of major reimaginings.

At Magic Kingdom, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is out of commission for the foreseeable future as it undergoes a massive refurbishment. Over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, MuppetVision 3D will soon shut its doors for good to make way for a new Monsters, Inc.-themed area. And at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, DinoLand U.S.A. is slowly being transformed into a new land inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones.

It’s been closure after closure, but Disney guests finally have something to celebrate: an attraction has reopened after weeks of being off-limits.

Maharajah Jungle Trek’s Bat Exhibit Returns

Animal Kingdom’s Maharajah Jungle Trek bat exhibit is officially back in action. The exhibit, which closed in mid-February, reopened on March 10—though it’s still not reflected on Disney’s website.

For those unfamiliar, the Maharajah Jungle Trek is one of the park’s hidden gems. This self-guided experience transports guests to the heart of Southeast Asia, featuring stunning temple ruins, vibrant murals, and plenty of incredible wildlife. Along the trail, guests can encounter tigers, gibbons, and colorful birds, but the bat exhibit is one of the most unique stops.

The bat habitat allows guests to observe Malayan flying foxes—one of the largest bat species in the world—up close. The creatures hang from vines and rock formations, giving visitors an intimate look at these fascinating animals in a safe environment.

With so many closures happening around Disney World, it’s refreshing to see something reopening for a change. Whether you’re a frequent visitor or planning your first trip, be sure to check out the Maharajah Jungle Trek and welcome the bats back to their home.
