Two of the most unexpected names in Star Wars history are joining forces.
During the NYCC's Lucasfilm panel, a brand-new comic was revealed. It that pairs Jar Jar Binks and Kelleran Beq — both portrayed by Ahmed Best — in a first-of-its-kind story.
The project, titled “Jar Jar Binks” #1, is described as an all-new one-shot adventure that brings together the Gungan outcast and the rarely seen Jedi Master.

Best’s connection to both characters runs deep. He debuted as the clumsy but kind-hearted Jar Jar Binks in George Lucas' Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999) and reprised his role as the character in the animated series, The Clone Wars, as well as other media. Best re-emerged as the heroic Kelleran Beq in The Mandalorian Season 3.
The latter appearance, which revealed Beq as the Jedi who saved Grogu from Corsucant's Jedi Temple during Order 66, became one of the standout moments of the series.
Now, “Jar Jar Binks” #1 looks to merge those two legacies. The first official artwork, shown at NYCC, depicts both Beq and Binks front and center — a clear sign that Lucasfilm is leaning into the nostalgia while allowing Best to shape his own corner of the franchise.

The news also ties into Beq’s growing presence elsewhere in Star Wars comics. The Jedi Master will guest star in upcoming issues of “Star Wars: Jedi Knights”, with Issue #8 due this month and Issue #9 arriving November 19.
It’s rare for Star Wars to let one actor fully bridge such distant parts of the canon, but this project does exactly that. For years, Jar Jar was the butt of jokes; now, he’s being reimagined through the same creative hand that brought him to life, with the comic being co-written by Best himself, alongside veteran Star Wars writer Marc Guggenheim.
In a galaxy full of second chances, few comebacks feel as earned — or as surprising — as this one.
“Jar Jar Binks” #1 is set for release in February 2026
