Tens of thousands of people visit a Walt Disney World theme park every single day. Some of those visitors take Disney transportation to and from the Parks, since they are staying at a Resort hotel. Thousands, however, drive to the Parks and leave their cars parked in a Disney lot. Disney has security guards and cameras everywhere, so they think that their cars will be safe. Unfortunately, one family recently learned that, despite the precautions being taken by Disney, bad things can still happen to your car while you are enjoying your day.
According to an arrest report from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, a Florida man was arrested for stealing a Guest’s car keys, finding their car in the lot, and moving it, so he could go through their things. Ahmed Snina, who lives in Orlando, has been charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle and burglary to a conveyance.
The report states that, on July 21, the Sheriff’s Office was called to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney security informed the officers that they had detained a man who had allegedly broken into a car that was parked in the Crush area at EPCOT. Surveillance footage showed Snina taking car keys, and several other items, from an unattended stroller in the France pavilion and walking away.
The cameras followed Snina, who went to the EPCOT parking lot and found the car that the keys belonged to. He opened the car, got into it, and moved it to another area. After he moved the car, he rummaged through it. When he was finished, he left the car where he had moved it, left the keys on the driver’s seat, and walked away. He then got into his own car and drove to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where he was detained by security.
The owner of the vehicle told police that Snina stole his keys and stated that the family will be pressing charges. In the report, deputies also stated that this incident could be related to other thefts at EPCOT and Animal Kingdom, but there is no other open investigation into Snina.
Snina’s LinkedIn profile states that he works as a tour guide for Walt Disney Orlando Tours. We do not know if he is an official tour guide for Walt Disney World Resort or if he works for a company that gives tours at Walt Disney World.
Even though Walt Disney World Resort is truly a magical place, there are still disappointing things that happen there, and arrests are not all that uncommon. Guests have been arrested for stealing from stores in the Parks and at Disney Springs. There have also been numerous arrests when Guests have assaulted Disney Cast Members and other Guests.
Sadly, there have also been a number of Walt Disney World Cast Members who have been arrested in more than one child pornography sting. Another Cast Member was recently arrested after being caught — and admitting to — taking “upskirt” photos of Guests.
