An iconic Disney park feature was removed this week after reportedly being vandalized.

The incident occurred in the tunnels beneath the Disneyland Railroad, where attraction posters provide guests a preview of the park’s offerings.

A Reddit user reported seeing shattered glass covering the poster for the Disneyland Mark VII Monorail. Cast members swiftly removed the poster and cleaned the area.

“Entered the park around 8:45 am today (11/14) and entered under the right arch under the railroad,” they wrote. “Noticed cast members gathered around the first attraction photo on the left hand side, which I’m 99% sure was Matterhorn, but I couldn’t entirely tell because the glass in front of the poster had been completely shattered.”

They added this was “likely due to vandalism or a really unfortunate accident, both of which truly suck, but within minutes Disney had the poster removed and the area cleaned up, so gotta hand it to the CMs.”

Initially thought to be a Matterhorn Bobsleds poster, another user clarified it was the Monorail poster that was damaged.

Is Vandalism a Growing Issue at Disney Parks?

It remains unclear if the damage resulted from vandalism or an accident. However, vandalism is not uncommon in Disney parks. Recent reports include damage to queue areas for Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and graffiti at Walt Disney World Resort. Last month, a bathroom stall at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa was also reported vandalized.

Vandalism is just one small part of the growing poor Disney park guest behavior in recent years.

While negative headlines have always emerged from the parks (and are obviously much easier to generate nowadays, thanks to the prevalence of smartphones), the last few years alone have seen shocking incidents, such as a male guest on drugs who stripped naked on “it’s a small world,” another male guest who jumped into World Showcase Lagoon at EPCOT on a dare, and a female guest who was removed from the park in handcuffs after trying to sneak her children in for free.

Do you think there’s been an increase in poor guest behavior recently?
