A recent Disney ride malfunction left guests feeling disillusioned while also giving them an unexpected look-see behind the scenes.
Ride malfunctions are part and parcel of the Disney experience. Any Disney guest knows to expect ride breakdowns while at the Disney parks. While it’s certainly disappointing to experience this at a Disney theme park, Cast Members have ways of alleviating the situation, whether by stalling and providing on-spot entertainment or giving guests a special Lightning Lane.
Breakdowns Happen to Any Disney Ride…No Matter How New
One might assume that because rides are newer or recently refurbished, they are less likely to breakdown, however, with a park as popular as one at Walt Disney World Resort (think like Magic Kingdom or Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park) or at Disneyland Resort (Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park), the sheer number of visitors every day means that park-goers can see wear and tear almost immediately after an attraction opens.
One good example is Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which reported wear and tear soon after it re-opened to the public earlier this year.
Unexplained Ride Malfunction on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Recently, one guest reported an unexplained ride malfunction on Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway which even resulted in the guests being evacuated from the ride.
While it’s unclear what caused the ride to stop, what we can see in the video the guest, Skye, shared is an unexpected behind-the-scenes look into the attraction, and some fans were not entirely pleased with what they saw.

Many noted how bare the room was with the lights on and without projections.
One Disney fan shared, “The beautiful GMR sets and animatronics destroyed for screens and gray walls 😭🤦🏻♀️.” While the OP clarified that this was the Southern California Disney Resort making it “less sad,” the commenter reiterated, “Still wish they didn’t use so many screens 😔.”
Another fan added a different complaint “This ride is alwayyyyyyyyys down??!”
One fan took this a step further, “The most exciting thing to happen on this ride tbh.”
Many fans and guests noted how often this ride has reported breakdowns and were less than thrilled at the development. While breakdowns are undoubtedly disappointing, Disney Cast Members always prioritize the safety of guests over all else and will act keeping safety in mind as their priority.
Good God Almighty!!!!! Disneyland guests complain about EVERYTHING! Unfortunately, attractions go down all the time and sometimes it’s do to guest behavior and their inability to follow simple safety rules! Guests constantly slide under the lap bar and stand up on Mickey’s Runaway Railway, at which point cast members are forced to stop the attraction! Guest also constantly drop items on to the track, which causes vehicles to stop moving automatically. Real Disney Die Hards know this, as do the casual visitors, but people will still complain! Chalk it up to Human Nature! Complaining at theme parks is a Thing!😁😁😁
