A fire broke out at Shades of Green Resort on March 25, prompting an emergency response to the military-owned hotel at Walt Disney World, according to scanner monitoring reports.

Neither Shades of Green nor Walt Disney World Resort has issued statements about the fire. Whether it affected military families staying at the resort remains unknown.
Scanner monitoring provides no information about fire location, cause, damage extent, or injuries. The absence of official statements suggests either minimal impact or quick containment without requiring evacuations or widespread alerts.
DoD-Owned Property on Disney Land

Shades of Green originated as Golf Resort, a Walt Disney World-owned hotel and country club opening in 1973. Disney converted it to The Disney Inn in 1986, adding Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) theming. Even after a 150-room expansion in the 1980s, the property remained much smaller than other hotels at Walt Disney World Resort.
The Department of Defense leased the property from Disney in the early 1990s and renamed it Shades of Green for military families. The resort's success led DoD to purchase it from Walt Disney World in 1996. However, Disney retains ownership of the land beneath the hotel near Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.
Military-Exclusive Benefits

Shades of Green has doubled its original room count and added a meeting space with expanded amenities exclusively for military families. Families receive many of the same theme park perks as Disney Resort hotel guests, including Early Entry, plus third-party bus service to Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios, and Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
Military families and veterans have access to discounted Disney Park tickets, regardless of whether they stay at Shades of Green. Room rates at the hotel are decided on a sliding scale based on rank and pay tier; lower-ranking service members pay less than higher-ranking officers.
