This isn’t just another comic book appearance for Batman—this time, he’s being “immortalized” in an all-new limited series titled “Immortal Legend Batman.” Set to hit comic book shops and digital retailers in August 2025, this six-issue DC Elseworlds series will take the Dark Knight on an unforgettable journey, melding the traditional Batman formula with sci-fi epics and classic Western themes.

The “Immortal Legend Batman” series explores a unique version of Gotham’s protector, set centuries in the future. This time, Batman’s adventures are rooted in an expansive universe where humanity has colonized space, using dark matter to manipulate space-time. But this expansion comes at a cost: the creation of terrifying beings known as “Shadows,” who threaten to destroy everything in their path.

“Batman is fiction’s greatest hero, and we wanted to find a way to take everything that’s so great about him—his immense determination, resilience and selflessness—and explore it in a totally new way,” said Groom, the writer of “Immortal Legend Batman.” “So, we’re taking Batman to the stars, turning him into a wandering hero, exploring humanity’s final frontier… and searching out deadly threats he inadvertently released upon the galactic community.”

This series promises to be a thrilling blend of genres, drawing inspiration from sci-fi classics, Japanese tokusatsu superhero stories, and even Westerns. What’s more, the creative team behind the comic includes artists from both the DC and Marvel universes, including Erica D’Urso, Dan Mora, and Igor Monti, ensuring that “Immortal Legend Batman” will be a visual spectacle as well as a compelling story.

“Certain projects are the perfect storm of timing, idea and creative team,” Higgins added.
