It’s that time of year again when everyone’s attention turns to college basketball briefly until your bracket is busted. But if you happen to be at Disney World, your options for watching the games are limited.
If you are in the Parks during March Madness, there really is nowhere to watch the games. Disney wants you to enjoy the Parks and spend money, not saddled on a bar stool.
Your only option in the Parks is your phone, but do you want to be attached to your phone when you’re wandering around the Magic Kingdom Didn’tt think so.
The best way to watch the games is at your Resort Hotel or Disney Springs. Here are some of the best places on Walt Disney World Resort Property to watch March Madness.
The Lounge or Bar at Your Resort Pool
This is the best of both worlds; you can have a drink and watch the games, and then when your bracket is ruined, you can take a dip in the pool.
Hurricane Hanna’s Grill at the Beach Club, the Courtyard Pool Bar at the Grand Floridian, or Barefoot Pool Bar at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort are all great options.
Rix Sports Bar and Grill at Coronado Springs Resort
It’s literally a sports bar. Rix has 31 televisions so that you can watch every game at once. Imagine waking up on the first day of the tournament and being able to see every single matchup and never have to leave. Rix also serves breakfast, so you can spend all day watching sports.
For lunch or dinner, get the Watchos. They are waffle fries covered in cheese sauce and topped with bacon. That’s a good day. And nothing says I’m just here to watch some games like a good cheese sauce.
Disney Springs
Disney Springs has several great options to sit down and watch the games. You can send the family off to get some souvenirs, and you can relax with a beer and March Madness.
City Work Eatery and Pour House calls itself “a sports fan’s dream.” You can watch the games on gigantic HD TVs or sit on the outdoor patio. There are almost too many beer choices here, but what’s better than choices?
You can also head over to Splitsville. What’s better than bowling and basketball? Grab a beer and hit the lanes while your favorite team is on the hardwood. At least you’ll have bowling when you’re team loses a heartbreaker.
Shula’s Lounge at Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort
Former legendary Miami Dolphins coach Don Shula lends his name to this lounge and the nearby steakhouse. At Shula’s, you can watch the games with a touch of class.
The walls have dark, wooden paneling, and there are comfortable leather chairs. It’s almost like you’re watching the games in your man cave, only nicer. You’re going to want a cigar and a scotch to watch the games here.
There are options for those who want to watch March Madness while on a Disney vacation. You’ll have to plan ahead and find a spot that works best for you. Remember, the games run all day for the tournament’s first four days.
And don’t forget, you can’t place any wagers on the games in the state of Florida. Gambling is still illegal there.
Enjoy the games, and good luck with your brackets. No matter how much you know about college basketball, you’re going to need it.
