For over 42 years, Harrison Ford has been making movies that have shaped our culture.

In 1981, a rugged archaeologist captivated audiences with his rousing adventures and relatable wing-it approach to virtually every life-threatening situation he encountered. Not a perfect hero, but a lovable one, Indiana Jones has cemented himself as an artifact in film history, thanks to the prolific actor portraying him: Harrison Ford.

With four iconic films spanning four decades, Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), Temple of Doom (1984), Last Crusade (1989), and Crystal Skull (2008), Jones is embarking on his final adventure in Dial of Destiny. Joined by costars Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, and Toby Jones, Harrison Ford walked his last premiere carpet as Indiana Jones.

Fit for America’s most beloved hero, these were the five best moments from Dial of Destiny’s U.S. premiere that made the night legendary.

1. Ke Huy Quan

Nearly 40 years since the onscreen duo appeared in Temple of Doom, Ke Huy Quan and Harrison Ford have shared heartwarming embraces as Quan makes a Hollywood comeback. Coming together on stage for Quan’s role in Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) when it won Best Picture, the two nearly broke the internet with their award-winning reunion. For fans of this friendship, the Dial of Destiny premiere captured another sweet surprise visit when Quan snuck up on Ford, shared by @IndianaJones on Twitter:

2. Calista Flockhart

A 20-year relationship doesn’t come easily, and the marriage between Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford lit up the premiere. The Emmy-winning actress lovingly beamed with Ford on the carpet, and according to Ford, she’s the reason he’s content about the end of the Dr. Jones era. According to Sky News, the 80-year-old actor is happy to “spend more time at home,” adding:

I love making movies, I’ve been making movies for longer than even 42 years and… my work is really important to me. I really appreciate the opportunity to do it – my wife granted me that opportunity. But I’ve been working a lot lately so I might be due for a bit of a rest.

3. John Williams

While it may not be surprising that Ford is ready to hang up his fedora, no one expected a performance from the legendary John Williams at the premiere. The 91-year-old composer took to the stage after being introduced by Steven Spielberg with a full orchestra. Spielberg praised the composer who scored the heroic music for all five films as “the glue” that holds the franchise together. Following a standing ovation, Williams said:

It is a joy to be with you today with our orchestra.

4. Karen Allen

A fixture in Indiana Jones history, Karen Allen, the actress behind Marion Ravenwood in Raiders of the Lost Ark and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, made a cameo on the premiere carpet. Allen will also reprise her role as Marion in Dial of Destiny, Indiana Jones’s final film. 5. George Lucas

What would an Indy premiere be without the mind behind him? George Lucas and his wife Mellody Hobson appeared at the Dial of Destiny premiere. Lucas joined Spielberg and Jones on stage before introducing the surprise performance from John Williams. In a heartwarming moment, Speilbeg gave credit to Lucas and the other driving forces behind Indy’s success:

That starts with the person who created Indiana Jones, George Lucas, the person who is Indiana Jones, Harrison Ford, and the person who is the glue to all five of these films – that gave us all of our rhythm and all of our melody – the great maestro John Williams.

On Twitter, @HFordArchive shared images of Lucas and Ford at the premiere:

With nostalgia galore, the kick-off for Indiana Jones’s final ride didn’t disappoint. While initial reviews come in for Dial of Destiny, Indy fans can catch Indy cracking his whip one last time when it hits theaters on June 30.
