Disney Boutique Faces Backlash After Revealing New “Fairy Godmother Apprentice”

A Disneyland Guest recently shared some footage from her visit to Disneyland's Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, which is a boutique that (like its Walt Disney World Resort and Disney cruise ship counterparts) gives children Disney prince or Disney princess makeovers.

Disney's Newest Apprentice

Unfortunately, because the footage showed a bearded individual working as one of the Fairy Godmother's Apprentices in the clothing shop and salon, some people have headed online to viciously complain about Disney's gender-neutral hiring process.

Disney changed its Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique hiring process last year to be more inclusive, hiring Cast Members to be Fairy Godmother Apprentices instead of Fairy Godmothers (since “Fairy Godmothers” are decidedly feminine and therefore devoid of inclusivity).

Some anti-Disney people have now accused Disney of destroying Walt Disney's “legacy” with this gender-neutral approach, while others have declared their intentions to “boycott” the Disney theme parks in an effort to avoid encouraging such progressive policies — even though the video shown above, from a Disneyland Guest named Kourtni, is clearly just focusing on her child's enjoyable princess makeover and places no focus whatsoever on the gender of Disney staff.

“Stop Seeing Enemies Everywhere”

One Twitter user, a writer named Avi Woolf, had a calmer approach to the sight of a bearded Disney employee in a dress.

According to Woolf, the Fairy Godmother Apprentice is a Cast Member who simply happens to appear masculine and to be wearing a “harmless” Disney outfit that “looks silly to any kid.”

“Stop seeing enemies everywhere, we have enough real ones,” Woolf succinctly declared.

The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is a salon and shop that provides Disney princess or Disney prince makeovers as well as “character couture” in Disney Parks like the Magic Kingdom. These boutiques are found in Disney World, Disneyland, and aboard Disney cruise ships.

Disney Magic Overcomes Hate

On a more positive note, plenty of TikTok users praised the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for its services in the video's comments and emphasized the importance of “teaching the kids it’s ok to grow up and not feel ashamed” and the importance of “teaching them to respect all people no matter what they wear, or who they are!”

Do you enjoy taking your children to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, whether you're in a Disney Park or onboard a Disney cruise ship?

Did you know that your child can easily choose a prince outfit instead of a princess outfit during the makeover, no matter what their gender is?

Do you care about the gender of Disney employees, or do you just care about whether or not everyone is having a nice time?
