Bob Chapek recently discussed further possible integrations between Disney+ and the Guest experience at Disney Parks.
Disney CEO Bob Chapek is an infamous name within the Disney fandom. He has overseen multiple controversial developments that have affected Guest experience in the Walt Disney World Resort parks: Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as well as Disneyland Resort’s Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure.

In an audio clip that journalist Scott Gustin shared on Twitter, we hear Bob Chapek talking about how Disney can provide a “universal Guest experience” where Disney can identify and pin point that “a person who spends seven days in the Parks, 24 hours a day, is the same person who watches XYZ on Disney+.”

Chapek details how this would allow Disney to personalize and customize the Guest experience for this person “beyond anything they’ve ever been able to do before” and it would allow them to gain a long-term competitive advantage.
It appeared what it came down to, per Mr. Chapek, was successfully using the data to give Guests an experience tailored to what they liked to watch and experience rather than, for example, having Disney+ recommendations tailored to “what they look like.”

Of course, as with most statements by Bob Chapek, this one was also met with fans countering some of what Chapek talked about. Twitter user Theresa, @GertietheDino commented,
As someone who works in marketing data and actually responsible for trying to pull together all these data points in real time…it’s so much harder than people make it sound lol. He hit the right notes with what technology like this can do, but expectations need to be managed.
And another user corroborated her statement. Chris Wilks, @TheRealWhigs, also mentioned, “My exact thought! If Genie+ is any indication of how this gets rolled out, it’s an uphill battle. Even the promise of how MBs were going to enhance the experience has fallen short WDW has a long way to go to make this valuable, instead of something costly that doesn’t add value.”
After some of the decisions Bob Chapek has been responsible for, including the Genie suite, fans are not sure any future decisions or endeavors from the will be particularly successful or helpful.
