Outgoing Executive Chairman Bob Iger’s career with the Walt Disney Company is coming to an end, and the former Disney CEO took to Twitter to share a message of thanks and gratitude with Disney fans, Cast Members, and colleagues he has worked with over the years.

In his tweet Iger wrote, ““This is the end of my 47 1/2 yr ABC @Disney journey and it was ‘the ride of a lifetime.’ Enormous thanks to my colleagues & fellow cast members & special thanks to my wife Willow & my 4 children: Katie, Amanda, Max & Will. I couldn’t have done this without your love & support.”

Iger and his family spent some time visiting the Walt Disney World Resort earlier this week, and the trip resulted in another message on his Twitter account, this time specifically thanking the Cast Members who work hard to create happiness in the parks and resorts. In his earlier tweet, Iger said “Just spent 3 day @WaltDisneyWorld & was reminded (yet again) what makes me so proud of @disney…our cast members! Thanks for taking care of me all these years. Thanks for your talent, your commitment & the gratitude you expressed. I am deeply grateful to all of you!”

Iger has worked for the Walt Disney Company in some capacity for just over 47 years. During his career with Disney, he has held such roles as Chairman of the ABC Group, President of Walt Disney International, and President of ABC. In 2005, he became the Chief Executive Officer of the Walt Disney Company, a role he held until February 25, 2020, when it was announced that Iger would be staying with the company through the end of this year as Executive Chairman while Bob Chapek took on the role of CEO.

Since 2005, Iger has led the company through a number of exciting advancements in Disney parks, film, streaming, consumer products, and more, all in favor of what he believes to be the vision of the Walt Disney Company: A “focus on three fundamental pillars: generating the best creative content possible; fostering innovation and utilizing the latest technology; and expanding into new markets around the world.”

We appreciate Bob Iger’s work with Disney over the years, and wish him and his family all the best in the new year, and in his retirement.
