Cast Members from Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground at the Walt Disney World Resort recently got together to celebrate the resort’s 50th anniversary! Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground was not completed in time for the official opening of the Walt Disney World Resort on October 1, 1971, however the resort was ready for Guests shortly after on November 19, 1971. Some of the resort’s Cast Members recently gathered together to celebrate this milestone with photo ops, meet and greets with characters and more.
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is a 700-acre property just a quick boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. It is a favorite of Guests looking for tent and RV camping at Walt Disney World and for those who enjoy experiencing their Disney vacations while staying inside one of Fort Wilderness’s classic cabins.
Cast Members have officially been making all kinds of magic for Guests for 50 years in all kinds of areas around the resort, including lifeguards and recreation Cast Members at the resort’s pool, merchandise, quick service and table service dining Cast Members, members of the resort’s transportation team, and even live performers in the case of the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue. (The Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue has not been performed since the Walt Disney World Resort closed at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, but we are expecting this show to make a return. We will update you on the date as we learn more.)
If you have not visited Fort Wilderness, we recommend stopping by to grab lunch or dinner at the Trail’s End restaurant or check out some of the resort’s recreational offerings. This resort offers fishing excursions, horseback riding and carriage rides, kayak rentals, and more. You can even visit Tri-D Circle Ranch to visit with some of Walt Disney World’s horses!
Next time you find yourself at Fort Wilderness, be sure to join us in congratulating their Cast Members on 50 years!
