20th Century Studios Announces a New Spy-Thriller
We learned recently that 20th Century Studios has a new spy thriller slated for release on November 8, 2024, on Disney+. The film stars Oscar-winning actor Rami Malek from “Bohemian Rhapsody”—the biopic about Queen frontman Freddie Mercury—along with Rachel Brosnahan, Caitríona Balfe, Laurence Fishburne, Holt McCallany, Julianna Nicholson, and Adrian Martinez.
Per Oxford Mail, the plot of the film is as follows,
The plot of “Amateur” follows a CIA cryptographer Charles Heller played by Malek who, after his wife is tragically killed in a London terrorist attack, demands his bosses go after them.
The CIA refuses and when it becomes clear they won’t act due to conflicting internal priorities, the cryptographer takes matters into his own hands and blackmails the agency into training him.
Principal photography for the thriller also began earlier this month, and now there’s a new update!

Oxford Mail reported that film crews for the movie about the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) were spotted at St. Anthony’s College, with scenes for the movie being filmed at a café at the location. However, the outlet clarified that security would not confirm if the star himself was on set for filming.
Malek’s experience with thrillers is evidenced by his role in Mr. Robot for four seasons before the show ended in 2019. Additionally, he has a demonstrated relationship with 20th Century Studios, with one of his most notable performances as Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody.
Malek’s performance was legendary and even earned him an Oscar, so we’re certain he’s going to deliver an equally powerful performance in this new thriller as Disney’s newest spy!
