Disney World Ends Mask Mandates on Bus, Monorail Service!

Disney World Mask Mandate

As of April 19, 2022 Walt Disney World Resort Guests no longer need face coverings for any aspect of their vacation!

According to an update from the Walt Disney World Resort Website,

Face coverings are optional for Guests in both outdoor and indoor locations, as well as Disney transportation. It is recommended Guests who are not fully vaccinated continue wearing face coverings in all indoor locations, including indoor attractions and theaters and on enclosed transportation.

This news follows a federal judge in Florida’s decision to void the Biden administration’s push to further extend the CDC and TSA’s mask mandate on public transportation. Shortly after that, the TSA announced it would no longer enforce mask-wearing in airports such as Orlando International Airport (MCO), and several major air carriers like United, Delta, American, and Southwest announced mask-wearing was optional effective immediately. America’s major passenger rail carrier, Amtrak, also ended its face-covering requirements.

But there was a delay from Walt Disney World, leaving Guests to wonder whether or not masks would still be required on its Bus and Monorail transportation system. Now Guests have their answer.

When Disney World first made face coverings optional indoors and outdoors, following Universal Orlando Resort, Guests were still required to wear a face mask on “enclosed Disney transportation” which included the monorail, bus, and Disney Skyliner. Recently, it was announced that face masks were no longer required on the Skyliner, leaving buses and monorails as arguably the only reasons for Guests to continue carrying a face mask.

It should be noted that while Disney World continues to advise Guests who do not meet the current qualifications of “fully vaccinated” to continue to wear a mask, there is no vaccination status check enforced anywhere on the property.

One can’t help but wonder now if the end of Disney’s last mask mandates could also hint at other lingering restrictions coming to an end, like the return of Park-to-Park Disney World Bus Transportation and Park Hopping allowed before 2:00 pm.

It is also uncertain how this mandate termination will affect Disney Cruise Line and its Covid-inspired restrictions which continue to be the most stringent of any Disney experience.
