These days, it’s no secret that people are generally pretty stressed out — but in an announcement on the Disney Parks Blog, it was revealed that Disney is doing something to help (aside from charming visitors during Disney Character Meet and Greets or comforting them with Dole Whips)!
The Disney Parks Blog has announced that “Disney and Calm are bringing the inspirational stories of the Disney Princess characters to families with new mindfulness and sleep content.”
These meditations, sleep stories, and soundscapes are particularly suitable for Disney-loving children, who can benefit from meditative practices and relaxation techniques just like Disney Adults can!
According to the announcement, “the robust new series of content is designed to help kids and their parents head into the new school year with confidence, encourage enjoyment and rest at bedtime, and help make mindfulness a priority for families.”
The Disney princesses who are included in these Calm app offerings range from Merida and Rapunzel to Tiana and Raya.
According to Calm’s blog, “Dreams really do come true. This summer, Calm and Disney have combined your favorite Disney Princess characters with the power of mindfulness to inspire confidence in kids and help make mental health a priority for families.”
Falling Asleep With the Help of Disney Princesses
When it comes to the Sleep Stories, there are three stories to choose from. In Starry-Eyed Quest, “Rapunzel shares the story of the new observatory she wished for;” in The Ocean Guardians, “Moana recalls the wisdom of her ancestors and saves Fonu in a storm”; and in Daddy’s Front Porch, Princess Tiana “shares the memory of her father and finds a special way to honor him on his birthday.”
Princess Tiana’s story could possibly help listeners with grief, as well!
Meditation and Breathing Exercises, Anyone?
As for meditation options, there are five. Breathe like the Ocean with Moana is a breathing guide, shown for free in the video below.
A different take on guided breathing can be found in Feel Rooted and Strong with Rapunzel, while Tiana guides listeners through a fun inner-light exercise and Belle speaks to listeners about compassion.
The old-school Disney princess Cinderella also makes an appearance, with a guided video about kindness.
Travel Along Rivers and Forests With Disney Heroines
As for the relaxing soundscapes (which adults will also particularly enjoy), there are six to choose from: Raya’s River Boat Ride, Aurora’s Forest Cottage, An Evening in Jasmine’s Garden, Ariel’s Underwater World, Merida’s Mystical Scottish Forest, and (rather unexpectedly) Snow White’s Gem Mine.
Are you a Calm subscriber who will be using this exciting and comforting new Disney princess feature?
