The Disney Ultimate Toy Drive is now underway for this year’s holiday season with Cast Members and Guests from around the world supporting the drive to ensure children and families in need have a magical holiday. The toy drive, which kicked off with a $500,000 donation toward Marine Toys for Tots is an annual tradition for the Walt Disney Company allowing Cast from across Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products ways to give back to local communities.
Disney actually has quite the history supporting Toys for Tots, going all the way back to 1947 when a team of animators alongside Walt Disney created the logo that the company still uses in its advertising campaigns today.
At the Disneyland Resort, Guests and Cast Members have been supporting the toy drive by donating toys at collection bins around the resort and helping to sort items and get them to warehouses where they can be sent out to families in the local community. To date, Disneyland Cast Members and Guests have donated over 1,000 toys through walk-in donations alone around the resort!
The Disney Parks Blog spoke with Cast Members who work on sorting donation bins, including Kika Lopez who works at World of Disney in Downtown Disney. While reflecting on her experience working with the program, Lopez shared her thoughts; “It reminds me that this time of the year is about giving and not receiving.”
If you are still hoping to donate to the Disney Ultimate Toy Drive at the Disneyland Resort, you can find collection bins for new, unwrapped toys in Downtown Disney, outside of the World of Disney store and Star Wars Trading Post, as well as at gift shops at Disney resorts. To donate online, order from shopdisney.com and select the option to donate an item from your cart at checkout.
Donations for the Disney Ultimate Toy Drive will be accepted through December 14, 2021.
