It’s not unusual for Governors or Mayors to make fictional bets on significant sporting events. It’s usually pretty harmless, mostly involving food from the other city, or perhaps the losing Mayor has to sing about the victorious city. During this year’s Super Bowl, the Mayors from Kansas City and Philadelphia bet a food care package, with the KC Mayor getting some of Philly’s beer and sandwiches. But what Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas wanted was a WaWa. (If you don’t know, ask someone from the East Coast, and they’ll enlighten you).
If Chiefs win, can we get a @Wawa in KC?

Now that this year’s finals are set, Miami will be playing Denver; for those who don’t know, it seems only fitting that the Mayors of those two cities get together for a bet. But now, Colorado Governor Jared Polis has gotten in on the action, and it’s good. Polis wants Disney World.
You heard that correctly. The Governor of Colorado wants to bet Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for Disney World. No word yet on what Colorado would give up if the Denver Nuggets happened to lose the series, perhaps the Rocky Mountains?
In his tweet, Polis poked fun at Governor DeSantis, calling Colorado “the actual happiest place on Earth to do business.” This is undoubtedly a shot at Gov DeSantis’ ongoing feud with the Walt Disney Company over Disney’s self-governing district and its response to Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” law.
Calling @GovRonDeSantis and @Disney on a friendly wager. If the @nuggets win the finals against the @MiamiHEAT, Disney World will move to Colorado, the ACTUAL happiest place on earth to do business, have fun, and be free! #ColoradoForAll

Polis has a history of trying to woo Disney World to Colorado. Just last month, he tweeted that Colorado was ready for “Rocky Mountain Disneyland” and that he would grant Mickey and Minnie Mouse “full asylum in Colorado.”
This comes at a terrible time for DeSantis as just last week; he announced that he was seeking the Republican nomination for President on Twitter Spaces. The announcement kept crashing and was ultimately shut down before being restarted. During his report, DeSantis attacked the Walt Disney Company for being “woke.”
Governor DeSantis has not responded to Governor Polis’ proposition, but it seems unlikely. For the record, the Denver Nuggets are favored over the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals.
Should the Nuggets win, there is no plan for how Polis will move the entire Walt Disney World Theme Park to Colorado or if Gov Ron DeSantis may help with the moving costs. The two governors will have to figure out how to move the Walt Disney World Resort halfway across the United States—so many questions left to be answered.
